    Are Cosmetics Hazardous

How To Send Nail Polish Internationally

Cosmetics may seem harmless enough, but many cosmetics are considered hazardous materials. This generally isnt because they are inherently dangerous but because they pose possible safety risks during transport. Typically, hazardous cosmetics fall into Class 2 Gases or Class 3 Flammable Liquids.

Not all cosmetics are hazardous, so its important to pay attention to the specific ingredients and packaging of individual products. Many people might be surprised by how a seemingly harmless cosmetic is actually considered a hazardous material. Lets look at some common examples of hazardous cosmetics:

    • Fragrances: Any alcohol-based perfumes, colognes and aftershaves fall under Hazmat Class 3 since they are flammable liquids. Even natural fragrance products like essential oils are flammable and, therefore, hazardous. Most fragrances belong to Packing Group II or III.
    • Aerosol sprays: Any spray in an aerosol can is considered a hazardous material. This can include dry shampoo, hairspray, makeup setting spray and spray deodorants.
    • Pressurized foam or cream: As with aerosol spray cans, other cosmetics also pose a threat because they are stored under pressure. Some examples include shaving cream and foam and even some types of foundation.
    • Nail polish and remover: Nail polish and nail polish remover are also considered hazardous substances. They fall within Class 3 Flammable Liquids.

A Guide To Shipping Liquids: Know The Rules For Usps Fedex Dhl & Ups

    Key Points:

    • USPS, FedEx, DHL, and UPS have different rules and regulations when it comes to shipping liquids
    • Non-flammable liquids are easier to ship and can be sent through regular air, ship, or ground carrier services
    • Flammable liquids are trickier to ship, though if you have the proper packaging and paperwork, you’re all set

Shipping liquids through the USPS, FedEx, DHL, or UPS can be complicated, with many different regulations and rules. First, many couriers simply wont accept these types of products for shipping. Second, even if they do, youll face many restrictions and need to meet many criteria.

Sending liquids across borders is even more complicated since the destination country will have its own set of regulations in place. Many countries have stringent policies for flammable or alcoholic products – and many of them require a special license to import these.

Of course, even if you manage to jump all through these hoops, youll also have to figure out how to carefully pack your shipments. Theyll need to be adequately protected to avoid leakage or damage. If youre planning on mailing liquids overseas, follow these five essential steps:

  • Identify the type you want to ship.
  • Find out whether your destination country requires a license for importing these products .
  • Adequately pack your shipment – dont forget to add a fragile label!
  • Find a reliable, affordable shipping service.

How Best To Ship Nail Polish

    USPS doesn’t allow liquids.

I wanted to point out that individually wrapping nail polish in bubble wrap is the best way to ship it. Also make sure that the caps are on as tight as possible!

You can use USPS, but only ground shipping.

USPS will ship nail polish by ground. They won’t ship it internationally, though.

fed-ex, maybe? they ship a lot of stuff that USPS won’t.

I don’t tell that it’s a liquid. I wrap it in bubble wrap and put it on a couple ziplock bags. As long as it’s only one or two, I’ve never had a problem.

I buy a flatrate box, package everything really well, and print the postage myself. no one asks me the contents so I don’t tell them 🙂 never had an issue where something didn’t make it to their recipient.

I shipped bottles of soda via usps international they didn’t say anything.

Looks like the legality had been addressed in other comments.

My go to for shipping liquids and such is to wrap each item thoroughly in plastic wrap and tape. Then I roll that up in bubble wrap. Then I place it all in a ziploc with some paper towels around it just in case there is a bit of leaking. Then I make extra sure that these items are in the center of the box and there is no wiggle whatsoever. So far I have had great success with this.
