STATIC NAILS: Reusable Pop On Nails Review How to Apply || Coconut Coffin Shape

I LOVE glue-on & press-on nails. Ive been using them since 2019 and have no need to sit at the salon for 2 hours ever again. I used to always dread getting my nails done Will I like the color for 3 weeks? Is the shape right? Are they going to chip or break? Plus, no one enjoys spending $75+ every few weeks Right? I started wearing press-on nails when I moved to Nashville from San Diego. I did a collaboration with Dashing Divas Magic Press-Ons and I was amazed at how well they stayed on! Im still a big fan of Dashing Diva but once I discovered glue-on nails my life was forever changed. I started with Kiss Brand and I do like them BUT the variety in colors isnt that great. I kept seeing Static Nails chic marketing and knew I had to try them! It was love at first manicure and I have used them almost exclusively since.

In this post, Ill explain everything you need to know about Static Nails Reusable Pop-On Manicures. Ill share what makes them unique, and show you what the application process is like. I linked my first application video as well as my follow-up video with my updated thoughts and all of the tricks Ive learned since I started using them.

How To Remove Press

While press-on kits will have instructions for removing the nails as well, Gerstein and Kawajiri have some pro tips that will make it even easier. Both artists recommend clipping off the tips to the length of your real nail. Then, if youre not planning on reusing the nails, you can soak the nails in acetone for 10 to 15 minutes. Kawajiris preferred method is to apply cotton soaked in acetone to each nail and then wrap each finger in foil until the tips soften. You never want to force or pull the nails off. Instead, wait for them to soak until you can gently push the tips off with a wooden stick or cuticle pusher.

Alternatively, Gerstein says Kiss Glue Off, a product specifically made for press-on removal, is a wonderful alternative to soaking the nails.

If there is adhesive residue left on your nails, Kawajiri says you can carefully file it off, but do not file the nail bed too much. You dont want to start filing off your nails natural layers.

The Verdict: Consider Me A Press

If you want a perfectly polished manicure that’s easy to do yourself, these nails are worth every penny. The durability, range of colors, and the fact they are incredibly easy to shape make them an amazing alternative to trying to paint your nails yourself or spending extra money at the nail salon each week.

Comparison: Static Nails Vs Olive And June

Its 2021 and we need more out of our nail polish. Thankfully, multiple brands are stepping up to the plate and in this section of our Static Nails review, well be doing a quick comparison between our featured brand and Olive and June to see how they differ.

Olive and June offers 91 different nail polish colors and its thing is long-lasting, gel-like color. You wont find pop-on nails there, but you will find fun sets, nail art stickers, and tools.

The competitors polish is vegan and cruelty-free, as well as absent of seven common toxins normally found in nails polish like formaldehyde and camphor.

Static Nailss polish is also vegan and cruelty-free, designed for long-lasting coverage, and free from eight common toxins. Hmm, in the Static Nails vs Olive and June debate, our feature brand may have just one-upped them. And guess what? They have the exact same number of polish colors, 91.

Our featured brands polish is also infused with nourishing oils to condition your nails while you wear the polish and you can look forward to 10+ days of non-chipping. In terms of cost, an Olivia and June polish will cost you $8, while a Static Nail color will be $16. Though double the cost, youre getting more benefits with the latter.

How Long Do Static Nails Really Last

Static Nails Hard As Stone White All In One Pop

Static Nails says their pop-ons last up to 18 days. We fished around to find out if that was true, and lo and behold, users say they really do.

The nails stay on so long because of two things. One, what the actual nail is made from, and two, the special glue. Now, the glue is strong but its designed not to damage your nails. Youll use more glue if you want the full 18 days or less if you want just a week.

Static Nails Reusable Pop

Nails are one thing you can get into shape without exercise.

One of my most popular beauty articles here on SSD was about cruelty-free nail brand, Static Nails.

Naturally, I thought Id bring back this beauty brand I love and use and talk about their reusable pop-on manicure.

During the spring, I had let my nails get too long and some of them ended up breaking. Since I hate uneven nails and wearing nail polish on super short nails, I thought it wouldnt hurt to experiment with these luxury press on nails.

I had also recently tried press-on nails from imPress Nails as a temporary solution while waiting for my nails grow out. And lets just say I was not impressed because it lasted all of 20 minutes. Wearing fake nails brought me back to my high school years when I did short press-on KISS nails for dance performances and long press-on nails for my senior year events.

When I remembered Static Nails offered a lot of neutral nail options, I decided to relive my youth a little bit. After using and loving Static Nails Liquid Glass Lacquer: Perfect Nudes Palette I figured Id give their neutral press-on nails a try.

This week, I want to introduce you to the reusable pop-on manicure by Static Nails. If youre curious of my review, keep reading!

What Are Static Nails

Static Nails are durable press-on nails that aim to give you the perfect manicure instantly, for a fraction of the cost and time it takes in the salon. They come in a wide variety of shapes, sizes, lengths, colors, and patterns so that you can create almost any look. There’s aren’t your mother’s press-on nails Static Nails come in chic iterations like bold reds, leopard print, tortoise shell, modern French, muted taupes, and more.

How To Make Press

Besides following the basic steps for applying press-ons, there are a couple things to avoid that can help your manicure last. Try not to submerge the nail tips in hot water for too long as itll loosen the adhesive over time, Kawajiri advises. Other products like lotions and oils can also weaken the glue, so the nail artist recommends avoiding the nail tip area when moisturizing your hands.

If one of your nails does pop off, thankfully most press-on nails are reusable, so you can simply start over, buff and prep the nail again and re-glue the rogue tip.

Static Nails: Reusable Pop-on Manicures – Review & Wear Test

The Static Nails website touts up to 18-day wear, depending on how much glue you apply. For example, if you only need them to last a few days for a special occasion, the company advises just a thin strip of glue on your natural nail. For longer wear, youll want to apply a pea-sized amount to the base of the nail as well as your natural nail. The good news is you cant overdo it with the glue that comes with Static Nails, because its specially formulated to dissolve as you wear it, resulting in no damage or residue being left behind after they pop-off or you gently remove them.

How To Apply Static Nails

I found the application process to be quite simple, but there are a few things to keep in mind. First off, you are using nail glue and want to make sure you are applying it on a flat surface with cloth underneath to not damage any furniture. It’s also important to not squeeze the tube too hard so excess glue doesn’t come out resulting in a sticky mess. Below I’ve listed the steps on how to apply your pop-on manicure:

Final Thoughts: Im A Glue

If you like the appearance of manicured nails but dont want to spend a ton or have to go to the salon regularly you will LOVE Static Nails. How To Apply Press

Prepping your nails for press-ons is similar to a traditional manicure. Pushing back cuticles and making sure the nail is free of oil, lint and dust is important, Gerstein shares. Most press-on kits will come with a small cuticle pusher and nail file to help you prep the nails. Having a nail clipper, nipper and cuticle remover on hand is also a good idea if youre planning on trimming your cuticles and shaping your nails. For the best results, a prepped nail bed should be clean and short, according to Kawajiri.

In addition to making sure your nail bed is prepared, youll also want to prep the press-ons. The fit of your nail tip is very important for long-lasting wear, Kawajiri says. Each nail tip size should match your nail beds closely in order for the tips to look realistic and to prevent them from falling off. When youre fitting the tips prior to application, make sure that they dont overlap with the side grooves of your nails. Laying out the tips in the order youre planning on applying them will also help you stay organized during the process.

Once your nails are trimmed and your press-ons are selected, lightly buff the nail with a nail buffer for a stronger bond. After buffing the nail, make sure to wipe away any dust or dirt. Using an alcohol wipe is the easiest way to make sure you have a clean canvas for your nail tips, Kawajiri says. Let the nails dry before applying any adhesive.

Four: Shape And File To Your Desired Length

Static Nails give you a long

After you’ve applied the nails and the glue has dried, you can shape and file them to your liking. I don’t wear my natural nails long and use my hands a lot for work and typing, so I wanted to trim the nails down to be much shorter and more natural-looking. They are very easy to cut and file and have a lovely buttery texture that can be shaped without ruining the nail. I was relieved that I was able to cut them and didn’t run into any issues whatsoever, as the initial length was too long to type with. Once I cut them, I was able to do all the normal things I do in a day and the nails stayed on very well. Below, you can see a photo of my nails after they were shaped to my preference.

Static Nails Honest Review:

The Details:

I ordered two packs of Static Nails, wanting to get a fun pattern for spring in an almond shape and a neutral color in a round shape. I got this tie-dye style french maniand these taupe ones.

Each package of Static Nails is between $20 $24, making them far more expensive than drug store press nails, but way cheaper than a salon manicure and in theory being reusable means theyre a great deal.

My order shipped really quickly and arrived in just over a week

Pictured above you can see everything that comes in one packet of nails. I like that they have 12 size options to give you the best chance of a perfect fit. They also give you a file and their unique glue formula that allows the nails to have this reusable, no damage effect.

The Results:

I really like how these nails look on. Unfortunately that basically ends the things I like about them.

Now, I will amend that last statement to say if you are someone who usually likes or is very good with glue on press on nails, than these arent that bad. For me, I dont usually wear glue on press on nails, I swear by these sticker backed press ons. So, I fully admit that I am not a pro at glue nail application. I have however worn glue on press on nails before and have not had nearly as hard of a time as I did with these.

Fail #2 for Static Nails they didnt last! At all! Ive had them on now for just over a week and here is the history of nails popping off:

Overview Of Static Nails

Rewind back 10 years and the options for glue-on nails looked plastic and fake. Sure, theyre convenient, but wash your hands a few times and you can say goodbye to at least three of them. Of course, sticking them back on wasnt a thing either, and so you ran out and bought a new kit.

The worst part about press-ons? They only came in super limited styles. You either bought French or generic colorswhere was the creativity that nail polish is loved for?

Fast forward to 2016 when Static Nails was created by Alexis Irene. She actually launched the brand from her college dorm, funding it with money she earned from modeling. Her idea was to create a press-on that followed nail art trends like 3D, contrasting designs, and accent nails.

Within the first six months of business, the Chicago-based brand brought in over $500k. Its partnership with Swarovski didnt hurt either, nor the brands entrance into major beauty stores like Sephora.

This Static Nails review is going to get into the brands exciting nail polishes and pop-ons soon, but before it does, well shine some light on its pros and cons.

Shaping Your Own Static Nails

This year the almond nail shape has really come into style and on the Static Nails website, the almond shape is considered medium length but its way too long for my nail beds. I usually purchase the round shape, glue them on, then shape the sides to look more almond.

Many of the sets with a fun design come in almond shape so Ill purchase that length and spend a lot of time filing and prepping them before I apply them. This tool makes it so much faster! If the design is near the tip of the nail I file down the backside until I am comfortable with the length and am certain its rounded enough for my nail beds. I usually also file the tips a little because they can be sharp and they curl down instead of going straight out the way the round nails do. They arent quite as comfortable for that reason. Ive also learned that I need to cut my nails very short and taper in the edges if Im going to apply an almond set because my nails will stick out of the sides of the nail.
