Benefits Of The Diy Finger Wrap Method
Though this process isnt very innovative in this day and age, its a trusted removal method for a few reasons.
& : Soak It Off & Wrap It Up
There are two ways you can do this next part.
The first option is to pour acetone into a small dish and soak your fingers in the acetone for 10-15 minutes. To make the process even faster, we recommend placing your small dish of acetone into a bigger bowl with warm water. Warming up the acetone will allow it to penetrate the product faster and make your removal process much easier.
The second option is to soak your cotton balls in the acetone instead. One by one, place an acetone-soaked cotton ball on top of your nail. Grab a small piece of foil and wrap it around your fingertip to secure the cotton ball to your nail. Gently press the foil, so it forms to your fingertip. Allow your nails to soak for 10-15 minutes.
Pro Tip: Cut your foil during the prep phase, and use plain, non-moisturizing cotton balls

How To Make And Use Diy Finger Wraps To Remove Gel Polish
We all know that gel nail polish can be quite stubborn to remove. This process allows you to soak your fingernails in acetone to effectively break down polish. Without having to keep your nails dipped in such a harsh-smelling product via an open container or bowl.
Step 1: Prepare Your Nails
The first thing you have to do is to buff your nails. You dont need to do this for any longer than a couple of seconds on each nail. Just pass the nail file over your nails enough to remove the shiny top layer of nail polish.
Step 2: Create the Wraps
After your nails have been prepped, its time to make the wraps. You will want to do this each nail at a time. Otherwise, you risk one cotton ball drying out while you work on the others.
Soak a cotton ball in the acetone or nail polish remover until it is completely saturated. Press the cotton ball to the buffed nail and secure it in place using the tin foil.
Step 3: Wait
Once all 10 finger wraps have been applied, all thats left to do is wait. You can expect to be able to remove your wraps in about 10 minutes. This process can take a bit longer if youve used a 3-step gel nail polish system.
Step 4: Finish Up
At the end of this process, your fingernails should be free of all gel nail polish. Wash your hands to clear any leftover acetone from your fingers. Because of how drying acetone can be, I recommend following up with a nourishing hand moisturizer.
How To Protect Your Nail While Removing Polygel
In the process of removing polygel should be very careful as sometimes you can damage your natural nails. Some of the things that you should take care of to protect your nails while removing polygel are.
- Never wrap acetone for more than 15-20 minutes. Because 100% pure acetone is acidic, that can thin your nail bed and can stop its growth.
- Always hydrate your nails after removing polygel, as nails become dry that can make your nails weak. Cuticle oil and moisturizer help nails improve health and make them strong. Even after hydrating your nails, if they are still brittle. You can add supplements of vitamins or Biotin into your routine.
- While removing polygel from a nail drill, you have to use it at a slow rotation level. Using an electric nail at a high rotation level can be harmful to your nails and even your finger as it can cause severe injuries.
- If youre taking out polygel from oil and soap, you have to lift the nail gently. Pulling it harder can damage your natural nails.

Less time needed: you might not have it down the first time but after a few times, you will be efficient. This process requires no acetone so it is a plus. Your toenails will be happy for not being in contact with the hash, skin-drying chemical.
Less damage on toenails: since the whole layer of gel polish is warmed evenly, it is easier to be peeled away comparing to other wrapping methods that might have some hard spots that require more forceful peeling action which results in pulling off some real nails.

1. Start by filing the top coat of your nails. To do this, take a coarse nail file and gently file down the topcoat of gel polish on the nail.
Dont aim to remove all of the polish you just need to sand off the shine.

3. With that done, you can soak the cotton balls in acetone. Simply place cotton balls in a small bowl and pour acetone on top of each ball until they are soaked. Most salons tend to use cotton balls as theyre small and closer to the shape of your nails. Be sure to open a window or find a well-ventilated space to prevent you from breathing in the strong smell of acetone.

Take Off Polygel With A Nail Drill
Another method to remove polygel nails is to use a nail drill. It is a professional nail tool. For this method, besides having an e-file, you need a normal nail file with a nail buffer. At first, cut the extra nail to make the process easier.
Set the e-file at a lower speed because it will not damage your nails. Then gently rub the e-file from the cuticle to the tip of your nails or vice versa. Take off the polygel from the e-file that comes out easily. However, the remaining polygel left on the nail can be removed using a normal nail filer. This would be better because less use of e-filer has reduced chances of damaging your natural nails.
After that, use a nail buffer to smooth your nails. And make sure to hydrate your nails using cuticle oil
