Fold Over Excess & File

HOW TO APPLY DASHING DIVA NAIL STRIPS!! | BOMBBEAUTY

The fourth step in this Dashing Diva nail strips review and application tutorial is to get rid of the excess strip overhanging the tip of your nail. If you have a fair amount of excess, you can cut some of it away with cuticle cutters before grabbing the included nail file, but I find the cutting step to be mostly unncessary.

Use the white side of the nail file and file in one direction. It will only take a few passes before the extra strip section can be easily pulled off.

Then, flip the nail file over and use the gray side to buff the edge of your nail to ensure the tip of the strip is smooth.

Once my pinkies are done, I work my way up to my thumbs. I find going in this order is the easiest for me, but you should do what you feel is best.

How To Remove Dashing Diva Nail Strips:

Peel up the edge gently *WARNING Do not rip the strip off fast or without acetone, you will rip the top layer of your nail off.

Dip a Q-tip in Acetone Nail Polish remover and gently rub underneath the peeled up edge

Slowly peel away while continuously applying acetone

If applying a new set gently buff and shape nails in preparation and follow the instructions for application.

Nail Sticker Tips And Tricks

First, I make sure my nails are clean. Then, I cut/file and cut cuticles. Next, I buff my nails really well so theyre super smooth. Last, I wipe them off with alcohol . Youll want to do a good job at measuring the stickers. Pick the best fit so the edges line up with your nails. If you mess up, they come with extra stickers too! I will tug a little bit on the ends and then fold down and file. Use the white side of the file to trip the tip, then the grey to smooth everything out.

How To Apply Dashing Diva Nail Strips:

Use a cuticle stick to push back your cuticles. You can also just use your thumbnail if its long enough

Clean your nails with nail polish remover to remove any film so they will adhere properly.

Select the correct size strip for your nail.

Place the strip slightly beyond the cuticle for a longer wear to account for nail growth and slightly smooth and press the strip from the center out all the way to the end of the nail in order to avoid bubbles. *If you have larger nails then you can use an additional strip on the sides. I place the original strip directly in the center of my nail, then cut the sides of a new one and use it on the edges. You cant even tell and it fills up your whole nail.

Use a nail file and file perpendicularly to your nail and file away from yourself in order to remove the excess. Do not file side to side. Also if youre using a dark color any mistakes will show more so try to just file the very tip of the nail again in the direction away from you.

Pros Of Dashing Diva Nail Strips

When I first tried out Dashing Diva gel strips, I had a bunch of house work I needed to get done. I figured theyd for sure peel off while I pulled weeds, painted, and went through the girls clothes. Oddly enough, they didnt budge! Since then, Ive worn them while on a trip to Palm Springs, to the beach and the pool. They held up great! How Long Did They End Up Lasting

After 10 days my other pointer nail started moving around so I replaced it and left all of the others because they were still totally secure! The full set ended up lasting for 2 weeks before I got a little tipsy one night and pulled them off. They probably could have lasted another few days but they did start to look worn and the tip of my thumbnails got a little rough.

How I Take Them Off:

Dashing Diva recommends adding a little cuticle oil and then peeling off, but Ive removed them without anything on and my nails were longer and prettier than when they started. When it hasnt been fine to just peel it off was when I had a salon gel manicure that was causing weak and peeling nails. These nail strips do have adhesive, so, I would recommend putting a barrier on first if your nails are in bad shape.

How Do They Compare To Color Street

How to Apply & Remove Dashing Diva Magic Press Nails

The material is thicker than Color Street so they have a little more stretch to them.
They had a few more bubbles and places I didnt get smoothed than Color Street. But I also didnt try super hard.

Ive only tried the Color Street strips for a week and the wear and tear was similar to what I experienced after two weeks with Dashing Diva strips. Dashing Diva lasted longer for me.
Color Street is more expensive at between $11-$13 a set
Most Color Street nails only include one design in a package though a few come with two coordinating designs.

Nothing against Color Street, I still think its a good product, but I think personally feel the Dashing Diva nails strips give me more of what Im after more design options, cheaper price point, and a little more durability.

So will I try Dashing Diva nail strips again? Definitely. In fact, I think I might go order a couple more sets now! 🙂

If you are in between sizes, the best thing to do is to size down. Any part of the strip that overlaps onto your skin will end up not sticking on your nail.

If you are a small woman like me, you may find that you need to custom fit some strips. I accomplish this by cutting them with cuticle cutters.

Once I have all 10 strips selected, I like to lay them on my work space in order of application to prevent confusion. I even take mine one step further by cutting each strip into individual pieces, but you do not need to do that.

I have gnarly nails. They are always peeling and chipping and I keep them really short so I can play piano without the click clacking of long nails.

For the past few years, I have done gel or powder dip manicures almost all of the time. I love how they look and they last forever. However, they are not without major drawbacks.
