Professional Pedicure: Cut And File Nails
After you’ve washed and dried your feet, it’s time to go for nail trimming. Five: Push Back The Cuticles
Next, you are going to push back the cuticles using an Orange Wood Stick wrapped in Cotton Wool.
The reason for the Cotton Wool is because if you use just the orange wood stick on its own, its too harsh and you can cause pain to your client/yourself.
To wrap the stick, open up a Cotton Wall pad, and twisting the Orange Wood Stick into the Cotton Wool like Candy Floss.
This Cotton Wool will just provide a bit more protection for the clients/ your own fingertips
Now, using the Orange Wood Stick, youre now going to gently push back the cuticles.
Youll find that the nail plate appears a little bit longer once you have pushed the cuticles back effectively.
Now, use a pair of Cuticle Nippersto tidy any excess cuticle you have. Be very careful with these nippers to avoidnipping your client.yourself.
Only remove any excess cuticle if there is any present. If you are working on neat cuticles, you may not have to remove much if any at all.
Be careful and just remove any excess cuticle. Again this will just make your polish look much better when finished.
The other thing youre looking to remove with the cuticle nippers are any loose bits of skin that hang off at the side of the nail. These are known as Hang Nails. You want to nip those to ensure they have been removed.

Dont Paint Or Polish Over Discolored Toenails
Discolored toenails are infected. Paint and polish trap fungus infections inside the nail and make them harder to treat.
And dont leave toenail polish on your toes forever. After about two weeks, it begins to flake and leave little white spots. Its best to remove toenail polish before that happens. Its OK to remove toenail polish just before your pedicure but you dont have to.

How To Do Pedicure At Home For Men
For the men who do not have time to go out and make an appointment at a salon for a pedicure, they can do it at home! All by themselves!
- Soak: Take a tub and semi-fill it with hot water. Add some Epsom salt to it. And then dip your feet and soak your legs for 10 minutes. Play some good music while your feet are getting all hydrated and soften. And relax. After 10 minutes, take your feet out and wipe it with a towel.
- Scrub: Drain the old water and pour some fresh hot water. Just dip your feet and take out, apply some sugar scrubbing cream and apply it gently. What type of maintenance does the client want and is the area to be manicured healthy and safe for you to work.
You should look for any areas that seem irritated, tears in the skin, rashes or any other area that may not be safe to work on. Always make sure that you have completed a proper consultation and you and the guest have agreed on the proper path for the service.
I make a rule of thumb with my clients and always ask if they would like to have cuticles cut or simply buffed and cleaned up. You never want to cut skin that you feel can make a client bleed. Should this happen you need to have your styptic powder or first aid kit and be sure you have your protective gloves to keep both you and the client safe.
