The Chemicals In Your Products Are Too Harsh
Certain chemicals and ingredients found in everything from hand soap and sanitizers to laundry detergent can dry out nails and make them prone to peeling, says Dr. Peters.
She recommends looking for products labeled hypoallergenic because they typically contain milder or natural chemical agents. If youre not sure where to start, she likes these options: Aveeno, Cetaphil, or Dove bath care products Seventh Generation dish soap Dove hand sanitizer and Arm & Hammer Sensitive Skin Free & Clear laundry detergent.
Nailtiques Protein Formula No: 1180 Escentualcom
Splitting, peeling weak nails that wont grow? We found they only need 2-3 weeks with this treatment to make quite a significant improvement. Its easy to use, just apply daily without colour nail polish and remove each week with a non-acetone remover and start the process again. Nails felt stronger and seemed to be growing faster too after a months use. If you dont find an improvement in six weeks, formula no2 plus will step it up a gear.

Problem #: Peeling Skin On Fingers Near Nails
Exposing your hands to harsh detergents or submerging them in water for a long period of time may cause the skin around your nails to peel or become red and inflamed.
Peeling skin around your nails can also be an allergic reaction to something youve touched or come in contact with, says Dr. Schlessinger. That could be anything – from fragrance in a hand soap used for washing dishes to a metal, such as nickel, on jewelry or clothing.
Skin conditions, such as eczema or psoriasis, may also lead to peeling skin, so if the problem persists, schedule a visit with your dermatologist to receive a professional diagnosis.

I am a bit fanatic about my nails. I had been going to another salon due about a year. The salon opened a new spot and I followed the nail tech. Four-five nailsbroke and generally at least two broke. I attribute them to my wear and tear.I saw the reviews for In Style and was pleased so I contacted Nick and we spoke briefly. He was receptive and detailed on the phone.Nick was honest and direct about my nails. He is a meticulous professional, excellent craftsmanship, detail to shape is priceless!!I have found my nail tech. One of the best!!

Illustration Of The Cuticle And Nail
The easiest way to treat dry cuticles is by moisturizing the area with a cream or oil. Some treatment options include:
1. Cuticle cream
A cuticle cream is an emollient that nourishes and moisturizes dry cuticles. Look for ingredients like vitamins A, C, and E, and natural oils such as almond and sunflower oil. The oils will help soften your cuticles and the vitamins can nourish and strengthen them, too.
To apply cuticle cream, massage a small amount into your nail beds after washing your hands. You can find cuticle creams at your local drugstore or beauty supply store.
Some cuticle creams to try include:
Cuticle oil softens and hydrates the cuticle area. Its usually made of a blend of oils and sometimes contains vitamins. Cuticle oil is quick-absorbing and also conditions your nails to help prevent future dryness and cracking.
Look for ingredients such as sunflower oil, grapeseed oil, and aloe vera for additional soothing.
To use cuticle oil, apply a thin amount to your nail beds using your fingertip or a soft brush.
Like cuticle cream, you should be able to purchase cuticle oil from beauty supply or drugstores.
If you dont want to spend a lot of money, coconut oil is an at-home treatment option. The saturated fat in coconut oil can help soothe and strengthen nail beds.
To use, massage a small amount of coconut oil, using your fingertip or a soft brush, into each nail bed.
You can bring your own equipment if youre concerned.

When Should I Visit Dermatologist
Dermatologist visit is recommended if:
- If precautions highlighted above, are not helping.
- You have hair fall, anaemia, easy fatigability or other general symptoms along with the brittle nails.
- You notice certain other changes on your nails besides brittleness like pits, discolouration, rough texture, etc.
Skip The Gel Polish To Avoid Uv Damage
Gel polish may last longer than traditional polish, but Green advises that the process could be detrimental to your nails and lead to peeling. Gel manicures require UV light to set the gel, and the risk of UV light can be just as damaging to the nail bed as UV light from the sun, she says. In addition, gel manicures can cause nail fungus. You also put yourself at risk for developing a skin or nail infection due to the filing down of the nailbed. Instead, go for a super strong top coat like Seche Vites Dry Fast Top Coat and wear gloves anytime youre washing dishes to maintain the life of your mani.

Retinol Or Vitamin A Overdose
Vitamin A is an antioxidant responsible for skin maintenance, wound healing, skin re-growth, and immune health. Vitamin A is found in two main forms: beta-carotene and active vitamin A.
Active vitamin Aâalso called retinolâis found in animal-derived foods and can be directly used by the body. It does not need to be converted first.
On the other hand, carotenoids like beta-carotene are found in fruit and vegetables. Carotenoids are converted to retinol after food is ingested. When it comes to vitamin A, having too much can cause peeling skin, including around the nails. The dosage needed for vitamin A toxicity is difficult to achieve from food alone.
Rather, vitamin A overdose is likely from long-term usage of vitamin A creams, gels, or supplements, or accidental ingestion of very high doses. People with poor liver function are more likely to experience symptoms of vitamin A toxicity.

A mild case of fingertip peeling can be treated with home remedies and moisturizers. However, it may worsen due to other underlying medical conditions.
Dr. Gonzales suggests seeking professional help is better if the fingertip peeling does not improve after a week of proper care. You should see your doctor if you experience symptoms such as difficulty breathing or intense pain, as this may indicate other serious medical issues, she says.
If left untreated for long, the affected area may get infected. So, it is better to get it diagnosed and take proper treatment.
Your doctor may prescribe the following medications:

You Buffed Your Nails Too Much
Just as moisture-laden nails can be prone to peeling and splitting, so can nails that are dried out from too much buffing, according to Dr. Peters.
Excessive dryness causes the nail to become brittle so minor trauma easily damages the nail, she explains. That means a small nick can turn into a big split when nails are too dry.
Be sure to use a rich moisturizer or nail oil after buffing your nails to keep them from drying out, suggests Dr. Rose.
