But if you cant or dont want to make the trip right now, there are a few easy-to-follow steps to get similar results at home.

How Can I Make My Gel Manicure Last Longer

    1. Keep Your Nails As Dry As PossibleWhile your gel nails wont chip as easily as a regular polish manicure, you can make them last longer by keeping them as dry as possible. Make sure to take precautions such as wearing rubber gloves when you do the dishes or clean your house. When your nails get wet they expand, and when they dry they contract, which can cause your nails to chip. Taking these extra steps will ensure your gel manicure lasts as long as possible.

    2. Invest In a Cuticle OilCuticle oil can work wonders for your nails. In addition to hydrating your cuticles, it strengthens and conditions your nails, which keeps the polish from chipping, breaking and becoming brittle. You should be using cuticle oil at least once or twice daily, especially if youre wearing gel polish.

    3. Take a Break Between Gel ManicuresIf youre constantly getting your nails painted with gel polish, without any breaks in between, theyre more likely to become weak and brittle. Your gel polish will last longer if your nails are strong and healthy, and taking a break between manicures is one of the best ways to keep your nails in tip top shape.

    4. Make Sure to FileIf youre nails are getting too long, growing unevenly or if you notice a snag on one of them, make sure to file them down. This prevents further chipping, splitting and tearing, which will not only wreck your manicure, but also damage your nails.

    Two: The Foil Technique

    Time Required:;35-45 Minutes:

    • Gritty nail file
    • Orange stick

Whilst this secondary technique is also great at removing gel nails, I actually dont think it is as easy as the Double Boiling Soaking Method outlined above. However, I often use it in the Salon to great effect because it is pretty easy to do and not particularly messy.

The Foil method is essentially the same process, but instead of soaking your nails, you will be covering them instead. What you will be doing is resting a cotton ball soaked in acetone onto each of your nails, and then using aluminium foil to wrap the cotton ball in place.

Step One:;You will first start by getting all of the items together, and by preparing the Aluminium Foil. You will need to essentially create 10 Foil strips that will be used to cover each finger.

Cut the Foil into 10 even strips, and ensure that the foil is large enough to wrap around each of your fingers. If you go slightly overboard do not worry, it will just mean that when you wrap it will be slightly more bulky on your nail.

Step Two:;Next up is to file your nails. You need to do this to remove the top coat that would have been applied to your gel nails. This provides the protection from chipping and the shiny effect, which we obviously no longer need. By removing the top coat, you will find it far more easy to remove your gel nails, so this is a pretty important step for this method and its resulting success.

Think Of Gel Polish As Liquid Acrylics

Ever wonder specifically just how gel manicures remain so excellent for so long? The chemical make-ups for gel polish and routine nail polish vary with each brand, however, the significant distinction is that gel polish will only dry out under straight UV or LED light contact, while routine nail polish can broadcast completely dry, discusses star nail musician Yoko Sakakura. Gel gloss applications treat under a lamp, producing a hard layer of polish that makes it more resilient and also longer lasting. The removal procedure for gel gloss is more complicated as well, needing the nail to be soaked in acetone to appropriately liquify the formula off of the nail. Not only will they last much longer, but theyll look more difficult and also shinier while youve obtained em, too.
