Apply Colored Dip Powder
Finally, right? Let’s add a little bit of color to that manicure!
Apply a coat of Probase over about 3/4 of one nail and dip in the color of your choice for a few seconds. You’re not dipping the whole surface of the nail yet this creates kind of an apex that makes the nail stronger. The color I’m using for this manicure is Shady. Remove nail, let settle for a few seconds, and make sure there aren’t any wet areas on the nail .
I do all of the nails on one hand at a time. Pro Base, dip, brush off excess lightly, and use your brush tool to get any excess powder out of the cuticle. After the first partial dip, you’ll cover the whole nail with the colored powder, avoiding cuticles but getting as close as possible. You’ll need to do this step 2-3 times, depending on how thick you want the nails and how pigmented a particular powder is. I did 3 color dips on this one.

Step #: Apply Seal Protect
Once the clear powder has been applied it is time to apply the Seal Protect in your Dip Powder Starter Kit this bottle is labeled as #3. Seal Protect is going to activate your powders. Without Seal Protect, the nail will never dry properly. Youll know the first Seal Protect layer is dry when you tap on it. If you hear a little click sound when you tap on your nail, youll know the nail is dry and you can move onto the next step!
How To Diy A Powder Dip Manicure At Home:
Step 1:Prep Your Supplies
The first mistake I made was assuming that everything I needed was already in the kit or available to me at home. What more could you need besides clippers, files, and polish remover? Smooth Out Your Nail Dipping Powder
Remember all that fun sanding that we did in step three? Well, we’re going to do it again!
Step 1: Drum Sander
This time, instead of removing all of the color, we’re just removing enough of the top layer to leave a smooth surface. Also, instead of sanding parallel to the finger, we will be sanding perpendicular. Sanding this way allows you to sand the entire length of the nail so that it’s smooth the entire way down. Just roll your finger back and forth to avoid low spots.
Step 2: Sanding Blocks
Return to your 180-grit sanding block first. I found a couple of small voids in my wife’s nails, and that’s ok. Just sand the area in a circular motion until it’s gone and then work the rest of the nail in circular motions. Finish up with 320-grit for that extra smooth surface.
Your client may or may not have lost their enthusiasm at this point
Step 3: Shape the nail
This won’t be the final shaping but you should get 90% of the way there.
Step 4: Final applicator layer
I’m pretty certain this step is just to get all the dust left over from sanding to flatten out. Apply a very thin layer of applicator to the nail, let it dry for 10 minutes.
Your Natural Nail Can Become Fragile
Not only that, but as with all nail enhancements, there is a risk of your nail plates becoming dehydrated and brittle. The removal process is crucial. That said, most issues with poor natural nail health are a result of nail enhancements, particularly dip nails, and stem from attempts at a DIY removal at home.
