Preparing To Remove Your Lenses
1. Clear out your contact lens bag. Before you begin removing your lenses, ensure sure you have a clean and ready contact container.
- Rinse out your container to ensure it is clear of debris. Use bottled water instead of tap water. Water from the tap is safe to drink, but it is not completely sterile and may include bacteria that are damaging to the eyes. Rinse your contact lens container with solution rather than water. Allow the case to air dry or wipe it dry with a clean, lint-free cloth. Air drying is desirable since it lowers the possibility of bacteria or debris seeping into the case.

What If The Lens Stays In Your Eye
Sometimes, when your contact rips, a piece of it can get left behind in your eye after youve removed the lens. Trying to remove the lost bit of plastic can lead to irritation. But its even more irritating to leave it in.
Try to locate the torn piece, then use your fingertip to slide it toward the outer corner of your eye so you can pull it out. It may help to put some eye drops in to lubricate the piece, and then blink to dislodge it.
If you cant find the piece but you feel it, call your eye doctor and get in to see them as soon as possible. If thats not fast enough go to a walk in clinic or urgent care centre.
