How Does Pact Work
PACT kills fungi by causing severe oxidative damage to fungal cells. Light photons of a specific wavelength interact with intracellular photosensitizing molecules that are applied as a dye to the cell wall of fungal cells. This dye is harmless to human cells but makes the fungal cells hypersensitive to a specific wavelength of light.
Once the light absorbs into the tissue and interacts with photosensitive molecules in the dye, this interaction causes the production of free radicals, which cause irreversible cellular damage in the targeted fungal cellsbut pose no danger to human cells.
As an antifungal, PACT is considered an emerging science. Most research has focused on lasers however, high-powered LED light sources offer the necessary light power output to ensure enough light photons will absorb into the toenail as well as the tissue around and under it.
A 2004 study of nine patients with a condition known as interdigital mycosis, which is infections between the toes caused by dermatophytes, yeasts, or bacteria, revealed that topical delivery of a specific acid called 5aminolevulinic acid, along with red light, led to recovery in six out of nine patients after one to four treatments. Since there were no follow-up treatments, researchers noted the recurrence of infection after four weeks in fewer than half of the patients.
Hyperblue Laser For Fungal Toenails
A specially designed laser beams through the toenail and safely kills the organisms embedded in the nail bed that cause Onychomycosis more commonly known as toenail fungus.
The procedure requires one or a small number of safe, quick treatments with little or no discomfort and is performed as an outpatient service with no anesthesia. The gentle laser light beam has no effect on healthy tissue and treats only the infected area of the toe. No drugs or topical ointments are used, eliminating the total-body side effects of traditional oral medications.
Clinical studies show that the laser kills toenail fungus and promotes clear nail growth with a single treatment in better than 80% of cases. The laser treatment is safe, effective, and most patients improve usually after their first treatment.
Our new Hyper Blue 1530 Laser will get rid of your Nail Fungus without the issues of oral medication or the time consuming topicals. Our Laser will get your nails back to their old glow in 3-4 treatments depending on the severity of the infection. The Laser uses wavelengths that will penetrate the nail and eliminate the destructive fungus that was causing the infection and leaves the nail revitalized as it grows out.
- Safe, painless treatment
- No side effects or drugs
- No liver enzyme test required
- No recovery time, just walk in and walk out
- Only 10 minutes required to treat toe nails on both feet

Longer Wavelengths Penetrate The Skin Deeper
The farther the wavelength is from UV, the longer the wavelength, the deeper it penetrates the skin.
For applications like liver support, then, wavelengths such as 450 nm and 470 nm are better because their slightly longer wavelength is able to penetrate the skin slightly deeper, enabling more interaction with the blood in the capillaries of the skin.
Disadvantages Of Fungus Nail Laser Treatment
Following are some cons, that are also situational dependent.
- It is a bit expensive. The fee for toe-nail fungus is around 600- 800 Dollars, as the laser equipment and strategies used for this treatment are quite rare and expensive for the hospitals and clinics.
- Sometimes through multiple exposure to harsh laser the tissue damage can make it painful for the patient.
So, the laser treatment is fast definitely but at the same time, it not cost friendly method and also not as much reliable as other remedies and ways to cure the nail fungus easily in terms of cost.

Blue Light Wavelengths And Relative Uv Content
Because of the wave-like nature of light, if a blue light therapy product peaks around 420 nm or below, it is going to also have a certain amount of UV in it. Because of their broader spectrum, incandescent and fluorescent lights will have more UV than LEDs with the same peak.
Here are a couple of examples:
Above is an SED Curve of a fluorescent blue acne light. You can see the peak output of the light is 417 nm, but there is also considerable non-peak light output that stretches into the UVA, and even a little UVB is present.
Here is another example:
This one is an LED blue acne light, our Peak 415. LED lights have a much tighter wavelength span than incandescent or fluorescent light bulbs. This light peaks at 415 nm and it still dips into the UV, but only UVA is present, and at a lower output than the fluorescent example above.
If UV is a major concern for you, choose LED over fluorescent, and choose a product with a peak wavelength around 450 or above.
Types Of Laser Treatment For Toenail Fungus
There are basically two types of laser treatment for the toenail fungus.
Lets know these through a comparison chart to better understand these and to know the difference too.
|Lunula Cold laser treatment|

|It will only take 15 to 30 minutes for the entire session.||Almost takes 40 minutes or one hour.|
|You can get all your toenails treated with this laser treatment.||Only a single toenail can be treated at a time, just to keep your feets tissue safe from burning.|
|You can your shoes and socks immediately after the treatment, without even waiting for a second. I know it would not make much difference, but still.||You cannot wear your favorite shoe right after the session, not even the socks, wait for almost 48 hours until the skin gets back to its normal temperature.|
|It is highly suitable for children old people, and pregnant women.||Not suitable for sensitive people, like children, women, and old people|
|There is no risk of the nail-bed damage, the colder laser will only increase the circulation.||There is a risk of nail-bed damage with this hot laser treatment.|

Visible Blue Light Is Capable Of Inactivating Candida Albicans And Other Fungal Species

The inexorable advance of multidrug resistance occurring in a wide range of pathogenic microorganisms has alarmed the world in recent years. It has led to fears of the eventual emergence of untreatable infections, with huge death tolls and mind-boggling expense. In response to these concerns, new antimicrobial approaches are urgently being sought, to which it is expected that microbes will be unable to develop resistance. Prominent among these new approaches are light-based technologies.
Our findings are reinforced by the studies of other groups. It was documented by other laboratories that aBL successfully inactivated C. albicans planktonic cells and biofilms. In a study carried out by Gupta et al., 4.52-log10 inactivation of C. albicans in suspension was observed when 332.1J/cm2 aBL at 405nm had been delivered.2 Rosa et al. reported that 2.3-log10 inactivation of C. albicans in biofilms was observed after being exposed to 45.16J/cm2 aBL at 455nm.3
In conclusion, it can be seen that contrary to some beliefs, fungal cells are indeed killed by the action of blue light alone, and this effect may have both medical and agricultural applications.

How Soon Will I Be Able To See Improvement To My Toenails Or Fingernails After Treatment
It usually depends on the origin of the fungal infection. If it was at the root of the nail, improvement can be seen as early as 3 weeks. A continuous improvement will be gradual as the nail continue to grow out. Typically, a significant overall improvement will be seen after 3 months. As a rough estimate, toenails may take 9 12 months to grow out completely, and fingernails may take 6 9 months.
Genesis Health Light: Phototherapy For The Treatment Of Toenail Fungus
Although onychomycosis can affect nails on the hands or feet, it is more commonly seen in a toenail. This is primarily due to the fact that the feet and toes spend more time in environments that promote bacteria or fungus growth i.e.: warm and moist socks/shoes.
In turn, this can be very uncomfortable if not outright painful, especially if the treatment period with prescription medication can take six weeks or more. Fortunately, there is an alternative toenail fungus treatment now available, phototherapy, a process that can be administered by the certified podiatrists from the Comfort Stride Foot Care Clinic.
This treatment process uses an instrument called a Genesis Health Light laser that yields near-infrared light this range of the light spectrum provides the properties needed to treat fungus infections and restore health to the toenails. An overview of this procedure is as follows:
- Remove the dead or contaminated nail/skin
- Apply an anti-fungal agent to the affected area
- Treat the area using the laser light
- After-care using over-the-counter anti-fungal agents
- Repeat the laser treatment steps again in three weeks
Some of the specific treatment benefits of the Genesis Health Light laser are:
- Clinical effectiveness

How Does It Work
Laser treatment for toenail fungus works by aiming a 1064nm wave-length laser at the affected area.
The laser delivers light energy to gently heat the toenail bed and kill the toenail fungus and the fungal spores that spread the fungus.
It does this by attacking the fungus in two ways by altering the cellular metabolism of the fungus and damaging the cell components, and with a photo-chemical effect that further damages fungal cell enzymes, proteins and membranes.
In a nutshell? It literally zaps that pesky fungus out of existence.
After the laser treatment takes place and the fungus is killed it requires a little patience to see the results.
The damaged toenail needs to grow out and be replaced by a healthy, fungus free nail, which can take anything from 3 months to a year depending on how much of the toenail was affected.
Take a look at this video to see exactly whats happening under the nail:
DIY laser treatment works a little differently.
In order to be safe, the lasers in the home devices are a pulse laser with a shorter wavelength of around 900 nm which isnt powerful enough to heat the flesh but is still capable of penetrating beneath the surface into the skin tissue.
This is usually coupled with a blue light which works on fighting the fungus cells found on the outer surface of the nail helps to stop the fungus from affecting other toes in the area.

The Wavelengths Of Blue Light Therapy & Why They Matter To You
We all have a handful of names for whatever shade of blue we see. For example, we might see a color and say its violet, navy blue, sky blue, etc. Well, science names color by its wavelength. The wavelengths of light are measured in nanometers, which is abbreviated nm. So when youre looking at blue light therapy products, you might come across the actual wavelengths of the light. Heres how to tell what those numbers mean and which wavelengths are best for you.
What Causes Fungal Nail Infections
Fungal nail infections are caused by the infiltration of the nail bed and nail plate by a fungus. While there are many types of fungus, including those that naturally move through the air outside, the kind of fungus that causes nail infections is most often spread through direct contact with someone that is infected. These infections are often picked up in public pool areas, changing rooms, public showers and gyms because fungus thrives in warm and moist environments.
The fungus feeds on the keratin within your nails, which causes the damaged appearance. This means that once you have an infection, your sneakers and work boots can be an ideal space for the infection to grow and spread so the earlier you start treating the infection, the easier it is.
Signs that you may have nail fungus include:
- A white or yellow discolouration or streaking of the nails
- Rougher nail ridges or thickened nails
- Crumbling, flaky or brittle nails
- The nail may start to lift up and come away at the end
