Tips For Flawless Application Of Nail Stickers:

How to Apply Nail Wraps! (easy nail art!) | LeighAnnSays

1. Make sure your nails are clean and dry, before applying stickers. This goes for polished and bare nails as well as gel or shellac. If your nail polish is not completely dry, the sticker may not attach properly or lift wet polish up from the nail. For gel/shellac, make sure you cure your last layer of gel before applying stickers.

2. Use tweezers to lift your chosen nail stickers from their backing sheet. Do not touch the sticky side of the sticker with fingers, that may reduce the adhesiveness.

3. Place nail stickers very gently on nail when you are 100% happy with their position, only then press it down with asilicone tool.

4. Smooth sticker on from the center to the edges, when applying it over a nail. This will get rid of any air bubbles trapped under the sticker that may cause slight bubbling in the top coat. Use asilicone toolto do it, its much more gentle on a sticker than an orange stick and its soft surface ensures the sticker adheres to nails 100% without any wrinkles or air bubbles.

5. Smooth long thin stickers, like theGeo Patternor Golden Goddess, from the bottom to the top or from left to right to get rid of any air bubbles trapped under the sticker.

8. Paint your nails with a base or clear nail polish before applying the stickers, if youre doing anegative space design or applying stickers over bare nails. Because your nails produce their own natural oils, nail stickers wont adhere well unless nails are polished.

Pros Of Dashing Diva Nail Strips

When I first tried out Dashing Diva gel strips, I had a bunch of house work I needed to get done. I figured theyd for sure peel off while I pulled weeds, painted, and went through the girls clothes. Oddly enough, they didnt budge! Since then, Ive worn them while on a trip to Palm Springs, to the beach and the pool. They held up great! See below for my tips and tricks when applying Dashing Diva nails. Here are my favorite things about these nail stickers:

  • They are budget friendly they typically cost around $12 for a set which will give you a couple of manicures
  • You can mix and match the sets
  • They are really easy to apply
  • There are a lot of colors and styles to choose from
  • They can be easily removed when youre done with them
  • If a gel strip starts to peel off, you can just re-do that one nail vs. having to wait to get to the nail salon
  • I also use the small nails/leftovers on my girls!

Dashing Diva Magic Press

Press on nails are making a major comeback! I was always so skeptical because I even struggle with dip manicures lasting that long on me, and gel? Not even 1 week! But, because I take so many photos of my hands with products, its just better if the beauty bloggers nails look put together, right? Plus, I have little boy hands and my nail beds just arent that cute. LOL.

So, there I was spending $50+ tip every 2.5 weeks getting dip manicures and hating my life. I felt like I was stuck in that cycle for years where your nails become so thin that you have to keep getting dip because its the only thing that keeps them from bending backward . But the funny part is, I absolutely hate getting my nails done. The drill, the time, the gamble as to will this set last at least 2 weeks? Will I like the color that long? What about the shape? Id usually go home and reshape my own nails because they were never right. It was frustrating, and I felt stuck!

Ive been wanting to get out of the nail cycle for a while and I finally had a good reason- Dashing Diva wanted me to be a part of their Magic Press nail campaign! The timing of the campaign was pretty fast and I had to take my 1-week old dip mani off early to meet the deadline. I went to the closest nail salon and had my nails removed and took my naked, thin nails home. Wow, I havent seen my own nails like this for 2 years!

Who Should Get Them

Women who are feeling uncomfortable about the appearance of their short natural nails and their brittleness should get nail wraps. The wraps help with the natural nail overlay and can create a beautiful tip at the end of the nail, in case your nails are that short and you need that tip. Also, if you got tired of fake nails you should get the nail wraps. All the glue that youve been using on top, as well as the harsh chemicals, are not good for you. Therefore any type of a wrap will help you in the recovery process.

How To Apply The Nail Strips:

How To Apply Nail Wrap

1. Read the package instructions. The first thing to do is clean your nails with alcohol. THIS IS THE STEP I SKIPPED THE FIRST TIME. Dont do that. It really made a HUGE difference on my next application.

2. Choose the size that fits your nails best. There are 34 strips in a package so youve got plenty to choose from.

3. Apply the nail and press/hold down to secure and smooth.

4. Use one side of the file to trim the excess. Use the other side of the file to smooth.

Thats it!

Here are my nails after applying them:

There were a few tiny places that I didnt get smoothed perfectly but I didnt mind.

Its now been two weeks since I put them on and while there is a bit of wear and tear they still look pretty great!

After two weeks:

Next time I should put the laundry away before photos. ð

On a few nails there are places the strips has pulled up or chipped but it wouldnt be enough for me to remove them or even notice if I wasnt looking so closely.

Up close:

You can see some chips and ridges have formed when you look up close. Probably not enough damage for me to remove them just yet!

I kind of want to change them out just to try something new but feel like I shouldnt waste good nails still. ð

Why I Need Both Gloss And Magic Press Nails As Part Of My Nail Arsenal

GLOSS Gel Nail Strips are great! They protect my nails and look like-a-million-bucks. I dont need to use a base coat or a top coat. All I need is a little time and a nail file. And my nails can be as long or as short as I want them. But what they dont do is add length like artificial nails do.

I alternate between GLOSS and Magic Press depending on the length of my nails, the shape I want, and what Im doing that week. Press-on nails just dont make sense if your nails are already long! Also, I dont think Id ever want to change the shape of my natural nails too drastically. So, if I want a trendy shape, Im going to file those false nails, not my real ones.

How To Apply Nail Wraps For Your Perfect Manicure

Our favorite thing since sliced bread, nail wraps have made our lives totally easier. Its no secret that were suckers for a good manicure, but unfortunately our skill level when it comes to nail art is nil. Nail wraps make our nails pretty, while ensuring a chip-proof, smudge-free application.

We got the chance to sit down withZoe Pocock, Founder/Creative Director of Nail Rock, to get a step-by-step tutorial for applying nail wraps to ensure they have maximum impact.

Start with room temperature handsWho knew! If your hands are too cold or too warm, the nail wraps may not stay put for the full 10 days.

Use acetone to clean your nailsIf anything is left on your nails the wraps will start to peel off.

Try to avoid cuticlesThe best thing to do is to give yourself a manicure before you apply the wraps, but if youre in a rush just make sure to push down you cuticles so the stickers dont stick to them instead of the actual nail.

Use a nail file to take off excess materialThis is always the trickiest step. Some nail wraps are thicker than others, so people assume they have to cut off excess material. But if you simply file on top of the extra material and shape the wrap over the top of the nail your wraps should stay on for the full 10 days or longer!

Place The Wrap At Your Cuticle And Push It Down From There

  • Align the bottom of the wrap at, but not on, your cuticle.

  • Use a circular motion to press and smooth the wrap into place start at the cuticle, push down one side, then across the top of the nail, then back up the other side.

  • Getting a tight, wrinkle free seal at the tip is the key to making your manicure look perfect and last as long as you want it to.

How To Make Nail Wraps Last

How to Apply Nail Wraps

Nail wraps are the perfect manicure solution for those who are self-manicure challenged or need a cute manicure in minutes. They take all the work out of it and its easy to find cruelty free options. Want to learn how to make your nail wraps last longer? Treat them right, and nail wraps should last you at least a week if not longer. With these tips on how to make nail wraps last longer, they will quickly become a staple in your beauty routine.

  • Prep your nails by giving them a once over with polish remover. This helps to ensure than any traces of polish, lotion, or natural oils on your nails are gone. These can prevent the wraps from sticking as long as they should.
  • Follow the package directions perfectly. Theres a reason that they have instructions for how to prep your nails. Just like with a regular polish manicure, oils on your nails could prevent the wraps from sticking.
  • Apply a base coat. The package directions should advise you to apply a base coat to your nails. If they do not, you should do this. It gives the wraps something to adhere to.
  • Apply a top coat. Once the wraps are in place, trimmed and filed down as needed, finish with a top coat. I find it helps to apply an extra coat on the tips of my nails.
  • My personal preference when it comes to nail wraps is NCLA. Their wraps are cruelty free, vegan, and come in a wide range of styles.

Tips: How To Make Our Nail Wraps Last Longer

Based on our experience, from testing the wraps ourselves and talking to our customers, we’ve found a bunch of tips that will help your Lily & Fox nail wraps last as long as possible!

Tip #1 – Use Sally Hansen Hard as Nails or Essie Platinum Grade Finish Top Coats

    • You can also use your favorite coat but please avoid using any quick- dry products as this will make your natural nails dry out faster – we definitely don’t want that!

    • Top coats are also super useful as they bump up our lasting power from 1-2 weeks to 3-4 weeks

Tip #2 – Use a base coat before applying the nail wraps to protect the nails and help them adhere better

    • This may also help if you have oily nail beds.

    • Note: Avoid using a top coat as a base coat because it’s thicker and takes longer to dry.

    • We like Orly Bonder Rubberized Base Coat or Sally Hansen Hard as Nails for the base coats.

Tip #3 – It is best to Wait at least six hours before submerging your hands in hot water, to let the wraps adhere better in the long run

    • Hot water may affect the adhesiveness of the wraps if the wraps are exposed to it too early, so they may not stay on as well!

    • So, please be mindful of hot water so that your wraps remain perfect right from the time of application!

Tip #4 – The Extra Effort

Top 5 Mistakes When Applying Personail Nail Wraps

Personail nail wraps are by far the easiest way to get gorgeous, long-lasting nail art. However, nobodys perfect, so weve come up with 5 mistakes people can make when applying alongside some tips and tricks so you can get flawless nails every time!

    1. Not removing the transparent plastic protection

    2. Storing out in sunlight

    3. Applying too close to cuticle

    4. Clean nail with nail polish remover before application

    5. Delay applying your Top Coat

We definitely recommend using a topcoat to seal the deal and make your nail wraps last even longer, but weve found it is actually more effective a few hours after application. This gives time for the wrap to adhere to the nail properly – some top coats, when applied immediately, can interfere with the wrap setting to the nail and so have the opposite effect to what youre trying to achieve!

    Don’t Just Stick Them On

According to Los Angeles-based manicurist Holly Falcone, you should always start with a fresh base. Wash your hands, remove any old polish, and wipe down your nails with acetone. Then, size your stickers by trimming the wrap down to fit your nail. Most stickers come pre-sized for each of the five fingernails, but that doesn’t mean you have to use them on the assigned nail.

“Apply the sticker as close to your cuticle as possible, then use your other fingers to pat it down,” she tells Allure. “Finish by filing off any excess wrap, and then blow-dry the nails to adhere the sticker to the nail to ensure they don’t move.” For extra security, apply a top coat to seal in the sticker. Right now, I’m loving Revlon Ultimate Shine Top Coat, because it gives off such a shine, it almost looks wet. Plus, it’s $7 and can be picked up from the drugstore while I’m out grabbing essentials.
