Selecting Is A Bad Concept

How to use Gel Nail Polish

One thing thats rather usual among gel fans is the picking process. When the color begins to raise, you may be attracted to remove it, almost like you would a scab. As peeling and raising begin, water can seep right into the nail, says Jenna. This can nurture bacteria and also perhaps trigger fungi. Once the peeling phase begins, its hard not to choose at your gloss. If you rip it off, youre possibly taking some layers of your nail off with it. This kind of damage can take control of 6 months to fix. Dr. Adigun includes: In one research, nail plate density was determined both before and after just one gel manicure as well as thinning was observed. Its unclear precisely which component created the thinning, yet one or more factors in the gel procedure are to blame.

When used and gotten rid of appropriately, how to do uv gel nails step by step are secure to wear on an ongoing basis, adds Rita. Gels can certainly damage the nails if they are peeled off or pried off the nail, which can strip layers of the natural nail, or if the nail if over buffed before the gel application.

How Do I Remove Gel Nail Polish

Removing gel nail polish is a lot more difficult than putting it on. Heres what youll need.

Gel nail polish remover or acetone. Some cotton wool or lint-free pads.Tin foil or plastic nail clips.A nail scraper or wooden orange stick.Lots of patience!

You can use pure acetone to remove your gel nail polish. It works out a lot cheaper than buying special products advertised as gel nail remover.

Start by soaking the cotton wool pad in acetone. Apply it to your nail. You can hold it on by wrapping your nail in tin foil, or you can buy special plastic clips that are designed for this purpose very cheaply.

Let your nails soak for at least 15 minutes. have a look at them. You should see that the polish is starting to lift off on its own. You can help it along by scraping it off gently with an orange stick or a metal nail scraper. I like to use an orange stick because the metal scrapers cause more damage to your nail surface.

If the polish doesnt come off all at once then soak them again using a fresh cotton pad. Give it another 15 minutes and then try again.

The steps to apply gel polish on natural nails

There are a few different ways you can do this, and they all take a little while. I havent found any sort of magic that will pop off your old nails in 3 minutes.

The easiest way takes me about 20 minutes. I started using;these plastic nail clips;after I saw all the reviews on Amazon. There is a liner inside you soak with acetone, then wrap up your nail and snap on the clips. Put on some Netflix because it takes about 15-20 minutes for the polish to soften. When you take it off, the polish will be soft and you can use the included scraper to remove the gel nail polish.

If its not coming off easily, just add more acetone and soak again. The stronger the acetone the better- if its weak acetone expect it to take longer.

How To: Use Vinyls With Gel Polish

    Hi all!

OMG – ITS MY FIRST BLOG POST! I cant wait to look back at this blog post in a year and say to myself, Omg what a noob I was!! Lol!

Okay, so many many people have been asking us about using our nail vinyls with gel! I get countless inquiries about it and up until now, I really didnt know what to tell you guys.. until now, that is!

Recently, I received an email from the lovely Krystal telling us that she loves using our vinyls with gel polish. Krystal believes customers will actually get better use out of the vinyls if they use gel polish. I asked her for directions on how she used the vinyls and she sent us the following directions! I hope this answers all your questions about gel polish!

  • Paint your gel base coat; cure.
  • Paint whatever base color you want to use. ;In the mani shown, ;she first painted one coat of a nude color; cure.
  • ;Wipe the nail you are going to place the vinyl on with alcohol to remove the tacky layer, then place your vinyl.
  • ;Paint over the sticker as you would with regular polish; cure.
  • ;Repeat step 4 as many times as necessary to get the coverage you desire.
  • ;Remove the sticker. ;I use a pointy pair of tweezers to do this. ;It can be a little tough to find the edges because the gel is already hard, but you don’t really need to worry about messing the polish up because it is already cured. ;Any minor dings or dents will be smoothed over when you put your top coat on.
  • ;Apply your gel top coat and cure.
  • How To Fix Thick Gel Polish

If old gel polish is not so thick, you can apply it thinly on the nail surface by using loading less of it on the brush.

If it is too thick that interferes with your ability to paint it on the nail surface quickly and evenly, adding a little bit of gel polish thinner will help to bring it back to its original consistency.

Depending on how much gel polish left in the bottle, adding 3 drops of thinner is a good starting amount. Close the cap tightly and shake it well for 30 seconds and let it rest for 15 minutes before checking the second time.

After comparing the thickness of the old gel with the new one, you will be able to tell whether it needs more thinner or not and add another 3 drops of thinner if you feel it needs them. Close cap, shake and let it rest for 15 minutes before using.

Keep using this comparison technique until it becomes your second nature in determining whether gel polish is too thick or not.

Should I Use A Uv Lamp Or A Led Lamp

A UV or LED lamp is essential. There are lots of different ones on the market.

UV lamps are generally cheaper but they also take longer to cure.

UV lamps use ultraviolet light similar to a sunbed. The typical curing time for a UV lamp is around 2 minutes.

A UV lamp should, in theory, be able to cure any type of gel nail polish.

LED lamps are more energy efficient and eco-friendly.

An LED lamp can cure in as little as 15 seconds, and most will have options to cure for 30 or 60 seconds as well.

There are some polishes on the market that cannot be cured by an LED lamp so you need to make sure that the brand you are using is LED compatible.

I can tell you that bluesky nail polish works really well with LED lamps, but Im not sure about other brands.

I would advise that you buy the same brand lamp as the polish that you are using if possible. A lot of scientific research goes into matching the polish formula with the wavelength of light used to cure.

What Equipment Do I Need To Apply Gel Nail Polish

To apply gel nail polish you will need the following items:

    • A nail file.
    • A UV or LED lamp.

I like to use a crystal nail file.

A crystal file is a little bit more expensive than a regular nail file but I find that Its worth it because you get a really good finish.

Crystal nail files last a very long time so they are probably more economical in the long run.

You can pick nail buffers up really cheaply on eBay or Amazon.

The buffers I use are great because they have four sides and each one has a different grain.

It has the instructions of what to do with each side written on it such as remove ridges, file nail edge, smooth nails, and shine nails.

You dont need to use a buffer, but if you have ridges on your nails it can help a lot with getting a perfect finish.

You can buy specialised nail prep wipe solutions but these are usually more expensive than rubbing alcohol, which is what the majority of them are made of.

Its important to use rubbing alcohol or a nail prep wipe before you paint your nails because you need to remove all of the natural oil and nail file residues so that your gel polish will not lift or show bumps.

Lint-free wipes are important because if you use regular cotton wool you will find that you get tiny little fibres that will stick to your nail. You wont be able to see them until youve finished your manicure and then they will be obvious!

I always use a gel base coat and a gel top coat.

A gel top coat will be sticky after curing.

Watch Out For The Poisonous Triad In Gel Manicure Solutions

More than just nail health and wellness, I choose complete body wellness, says Jenna, who advises versus the toxic triad carcinogens that are present in several polishes: Formaldehyde, toluene, as well as dibutyl phthalate . After the clinical screening, in high doses, these ingredients were found to trigger swelling in addition to lots of various other unfavorable negative effects like disturbing liver as well as thyroid function for instance, Rita describes. Thankfully, most specialist grade nail brightens made today do not contain these nasties. Jennas very own brand name of lacquers, together with Jinsoons, RGBs, Zoyas, and Sally Hansens come created without those typical wrongdoers.

Do I Need To Use A Primer

Primer is needed for better bonding of the base coat and the gel polish with the natural nail plate.

It also protects the nails, for example, from fungus.

Even if your gel nail polish brand of choice doesnt require the use of a primer its still a good idea to apply it.

    The reason?

It will make your manicure last longer.

How To Apply A Gel Top Coat Over Regular Polish

how to apply gel nail polish at home Pink Gellac tropical ...
    • The first thing that you need to do is prep your nails like you would usually do,
    • I usually prep by pushing back my cuticles, filing my nails, and then cleaning them with a cotton pad soaked with rubbing alcohol.
    • Next, apply your regular nail polish as you usually do, I usually apply them in two thin coats.
    • But before you apply your gel top coat you need to allow your polish to dry completely. I recommend leaving your polish to dry for 4-6 hours before applying the gel top coat.
    • If your nail polish isnt dried properly before you apply the gel top coat, your nail polish will shrink and wrinkle up.
    • Now once your nail polish has dried you can apply a thin coat of gel top coat over your nail polish, just ensure you cap the edges
    • Finally, let it cure under your UV or Led Lamps as recommended by your brand of gel top coat, once cured dont forget to wipe away that tacky or sticky layer with rubbing alcohol.

Loosen Up The Top Layer With A Coarse Nail File
