In nail technician school, you will take courses that will teach you nail art, artificial nails , sanitation, manicuring, pedicuring personal ethics, salon management and employer/employee/client relations. You should also be allowed to work on live subjects during the course of your education, as you will be expected to pass a practical part of the nail technician license exam.
Your school may offer some sort of nail technician certification, but should also include some sort of preparation to help you obtain your nail technician license. Most schools that offer nail technician courses that will lead you to the nail technician license requires you to have at least a high school diploma or GED. Scam Alert Fake Tdlr Letters Demand Money With Green Dot Moneypak Cards
TDLR received reports of a scammer mailing fake TDLR letters to license holders. The scammer is targeting people with previous TDLR violations and will likely mention those violations. He may also say he is from the sheriffs office or OSHA and may indicate he is trying to help the business owner.
This sophisticated scam includes falsely telling business owners their license is suspended and instructing them to get a Business Surety Bond. The scammer also demands money or payment with Green Dot MoneyPak cards.
It appears the scam targets Vietnamese and Spanish speakers by providing false TDLR phone numbers for these languages.
Please see the attached example of one type of scam letter we have seen recently.
- TDLR will never ask you to pay a penalty or fine without first sending a Notice of Alleged Violation to you by certified mail.
- TDLR will never request or accept money or gift cards under any circumstances while visiting your business.
- TDLR does not request or accept payments via Green Dot MoneyPak cards.
If you receive a suspicious call or email like this, please contact your local law enforcement agency immediately. Please also call TDLR at 800-803-9202 to verify we did not contact you.
Scams like this one can happen anywhere. Please use the information above to identify any suspicious or potentially illegal activity. Impersonating a public servant is a third-degree felony under the Texas Penal Code.

Nail Tech Salary And Jobs
Becoming a nail tech is a good choice for someone looking for a solid career.
The Bureau of Labor and Statistics states that employment opportunities are expected to continue growing between 2012 and 2022 by a rate of 16 percent overall. New services and opportunities are needed constantly within this profession, such as those who work in the relatively new field of mobile manicure.
As consumers focus on improving their overall health and well-being, more of them seek out manicurists who can help them to do that. Nail tech jobs, much like jobs in other professions, are in the process of evolving to meet customers needs.
A mobile manicurist comes to his or her clients, wherever is convenient for them. Often this means visiting the customer at home or at work, and performing nail services there. This means that the manicurist needs to be flexible, but she can also charge more for her services to account for travel time, fuel costs, and wear and tear on her vehicle.
Since clients are not waiting in a waiting area for her, time management can be a big issue for this type of nail tech. For a manicurist who wants to have full control over her schedule, however, this can be a rewarding way to do business. Mobile manicurists have the same training and go to the same schools that other students go to.

The skin is the largest organ of the body and has many functions. We are most aware of it as it covers every inch of the body. It is the component of the body which is most exposed to injury. Daily we tend to bring minor trauma to our skin. Our skin is taken for granted. In fact, it is a very complex organ whose correct functioning is essential to life.
The outer layer which varies in thickness from place to place.
The dermis is attached to the epidermis by projections from the dermis called papillae. The dermis is the inner layer which consists of fibrous and connective tissue.
The main part of the sweat gland is situated in the dermis. The duct, however, spirals towards the surface through the epidermis. The gland is made up of a tightly convoluted tube which is lined by cubical epithelium and surrounded by a network of capillaries.
Nails are modifications of the epidermis, and are horny plates corresponding to the claws or hooves of animals. Nails are developed from the stratum lucidum of the nail bed, and composed of densely packed keratinized cells.
Most parts of the skin are covered by hair either course or downy. No hair is found on the palms of the hand or soles of the feet. The roots of the hairs are found in the dermis.

Nail Technician Schools Online
Many students may not think at first about attending schools online, but unlike online skin care training it is a viable option. It is an especially tempting option if you cant find a school close to you.
Each state board of cosmetology has different regulations in place to account for this type of school. Therefore it is best for students to check with the board before enrolling in any school. Some boards require a specific number of hours of education to occur in a live setting, although the amount of hours may vary.
Another source of information about accreditation for online cosmetology schools and programs is the National Accrediting Commission of Cosmetology Arts and Sciences .
Finding nail schools online is not difficult to do see our list of schools ordered by state at the bottom of this page. Students should research potential schools before enrolling.
