- Use moisturizing lotion. Your nails will probably look damaged after being glued for weeks. It might look dry and brittle thats why its best to apply a moisturizing lotion to coat your nails.
- Use conditioning cream. Another way to protect them is to apply a conditioning cream or even natural oils that have a high moisture content. Only after you cut your nails short to prevent chipping and breakage.

My new year’s resolution is to stop my unsightly nervous habit of biting and picking at my nails. So with nail salons closed, I tried something I never thought I would to stop the nail biting once and for all: press-on nails. For a DIY project, I have to say, this at-home manicure didn’t turn out half bad.
I picked up the Kiss Gel Fantasy nails at the drugstore in a neutral tone I felt comfortable with, while doubting that they’d fit onto my tiny nail beds. But as it turns out, each box comes with a bunch of different nail sizes, so odds are they’ll fit you too. Everything is included that you need, from nail glue to a nail file.
They feel just like real nails, so you can trim them down and file them to look most natural. I ended up shortening even the short length ones I bought quite a bit. The result was nails that looked like acrylics, fresh out of the nail salon. And all that for under $10.
While it did take me quite a while to pick out my nail sizes and trim them down, it takes no more time than driving to the salon and having them done professionally. Plus, it saves a whole bunch of cash.
What Are Press On Nails
Press on nails are fake nails that are glued onto your natural nail. They come in all of the different nail shapes you can think of, such as round, oval, square, cat nail, almond, and coffin. As you can see, you wont have to worry about not having your favorite nail shape. You will be able to have your nails just as you like them! Final Thoughts & My Experience
Overall, Im absolutely obsessed with this new launch. Since I print and package greeting cards every day , Ive had to stop wearing every day nail polish because I cant risk getting nail polish streaks on my products. However, I always want my nails to look great for blog posts/photos, and events like weddings and parties. So the fact that I can have both with these new press on nails is super exciting.
The one thing I will say about the long length is that Olive & June isnt joking around. These nails are long. And stunning. However, they did make my nail beds a little sore for the first day or so while adjusting to the new length. You also have to get used to doing things differently with long nails, such as typing on the computer or your phone, picking things up, etc. So although I absolutely love and highly recommend these nails, I also recommend you do a test run and dont put them on for the first time like an hour before your wedding.
As far as the non-damaging glue is concerned, Olive & June is telling the truth! Like I said in my video, I kept my natural nails super long just to see if the glue and press ons would damage and/or break them. And after a full 5+ days of wear, The Instant Mani came off with no issues. Not a single cracked, torn, or worn nail in sight. Its very impressive. To be honest, nail polish strips have caused my nails more damage lately than these press ons.

How We Tested Press
Our team rounded up several beauty testers for a day of grooming and manicures to test 13 sets of press-on nails. For each set of nails, they considered the ease of application, overall look, and strength of adhesive .
Starting with clean buffed nails, our testers applied a full set of nails using the instructions on the packaging. They considered the time and effort it took to apply each nail, the level of glue required, and how the nails looked on their fingers once in place. Do they look professional-grade or like a child’s arts and crafts project? After initial assessments the nails were put to the test with each person washing their hands three times with hot soapy water. After drying off, the testers gently pushed the tip of the nail backwards and forwards to see if it would pop off. Some testers continued providing insights on how their nails lasted throughout the week and what the removal process was like, checking for signs of damage along the way.
