Can You Use Regular Nail Polish With Polygel Nails

Yes, regular nail polish can be used with any gel nails, of course, after getting a topcoat on gel nails. As polygel is one kind of hard gel-type artificial gel for nails, so you can apply any regular nail polish with it.

In my opinion, regular nail polish is more convenient to file off than gel polish.

If you want flexible colored nails, traditional nail polish must be your priority though it has a slightly shorter life. Every time you can use non-acetonic nail polish remover to remove nail polis and switch to the new color without harming your polygel nail extensions.

The Color Street Manicure

Color Street Application Instructions

All of these above are manicures Ive done over the last few months. You can see that its super-easy to do some custom nail art with these babies, too! Since theyre in strip form you can simply cut them into different shapes.

Color Street is a game changer when it comes to the nail polish world, which hasnt seen a major technological update since the early 1900s when the nail polish bottle was created. Other nail stickers have come out, but these are actual polish. Its an amazing technology because it solves so many problems with the traditional liquid format. You know I love problem-solvers, in fashion and beauty. I love that I can stop mid-manicure and make Sienna a snack or let Camper outside. I used to get gel manicures often, but the cost, time and damage to my nails made it less-than-fun for me. It became more of a chore. These, however, are so fun, especially since they are coming out with new shades now monthly!

If you have tried these before but havent checked out the styles in a bit, Color Street has really upped the choices for fall by bringing on a former executive at OPI and consulting a fashion color house for fall trends. Word. Some of my favorite fall shades are Made in Milan , Manchester Mauve and Only In Vegas. And the new Halloween collection is super-fun, too! Im digging the glow in the dark sets!

Overview Of Color Street

Founded in NYC, the idea for Color Street was developed when Fa Park witnessed a woman stuck in traffic attempting to paint her nails. Watching her struggle and considering what would happen to her nails when she got out of the cab, he wondered if there was a better way to get great-looking nails without the mess and drying time.

After experimenting with layering nail polish on paper, Park found a way that a bottom coat could stay tacky and adhere to a nail, while the top could remain dry to the touch. This was all back in 1988!

The brand has grown throughout the past 30 years, starting with solid shades and changing with modern needs to include fun graphics, prints, and a boatload of glitter. Today, Color Street is sold through a direct sales platform, pairing customers up with Independent Stylists who assist in the picking and purchasing process.

The company, which is now a division of Incoco, is located in New Jersey where its 100% real nail polish strips are made. Before we get into the brands expressive products, this Color Street nails review will fill you in on its pros and cons.

How Do I Make My Color Street Last Longer

This question is like the holy grail of Color Street problems. Everyone wants to know how to make their manicures last longer and its not specific to just Color Street users either. Following all the tips above as well as some others here, youll get good longevity. However, there are always things you can do to even enhance that.

Always make sure your strips are at room temp before application to avoid Color Street problems. If theyre cold they will be brittle and will not want to stick to your nail. Make sure to always push your cuticles back and apply the Color Street strips to the nail ONLY! If you have any of the strip on the skin or cuticle the strip will eventually lift and chip off. If youre using liquid top coat always remember to cap the tip which means to apply nail polish over the tip the nail to seal it all above and below.

Let me know what other Color Street problems you come across! I want to help you get the best out of this amazing nail polish.

Tips: How To Make Our Nail Wraps Last Longer

Based on our experience, from testing the wraps ourselves and talking to our customers, we’ve found a bunch of tips that will help your Lily & Fox nail wraps last as long as possible!

Tip #1 – Use Sally Hansen Hard as Nails or Essie Platinum Grade Finish Top Coats

  • You can also use your favorite coat but please avoid using any quick- dry products as this will make your natural nails dry out faster – we definitely don’t want that!

  • Top coats are also super useful as they bump up our lasting power from 1-2 weeks to 3-4 weeks

Tip #2 – Use a base coat before applying the nail wraps to protect the nails and help them adhere better

  • This may also help if you have oily nail beds.

  • Note: Avoid using a top coat as a base coat because it’s thicker and takes longer to dry.

  • We like Orly Bonder Rubberized Base Coat or Sally Hansen Hard as Nails for the base coats.

Tip #3 – It is best to Wait at least six hours before submerging your hands in hot water, to let the wraps adhere better in the long run

  • Hot water may affect the adhesiveness of the wraps if the wraps are exposed to it too early, so they may not stay on as well!

  • So, please be mindful of hot water so that your wraps remain perfect right from the time of application!

Tip #4 – The Extra Effort

Select The Correct Strips To Use

Color Street Nails comes with 16 different stickers in each package. So you have some sizing options to choose from. Choose the 10 stickers that fit your nails best.

If there isnt a sticker that perfectly fits the size of your nail, we recommend going a little smaller than larger. If the sticker is too large, it will likely not be able to stick to your nail completely since it will be touching the skin on the sides of the nail.

Comparison: Color Street Vs Incoco

How to Apply Color Street Nails!

Color Street isnt the only brand on the market to make nail polish strips, but it does things a little differently from its competitors in terms of style and materials. In this section of our Color Street nails review, well be doing a quick comparison between the brand and Incoco.

Before we get started, we must tell you that Incoco is actually the parent company of Color Street, but it does carry its own namesake collection, as well as one called Coconut Nail Art. Well be looking at the differences between the two collections to see what the major variances are in terms of quality, style, and price.

Ok, lets get started. Incoco nail polish strips are only available for purchase through Ulta Beauty and Walmart. So unlike Color Street, you wont be able to buy them from the website.

In terms of style selection, Incocos lineup looks to be slightly different, wed say perhaps more modern. Art like arrows, mini hearts, polka dots, and tie-dye marbling adorn its strips.

When looking at heart-decorated polish strips offered by each brand, Incocos hearts are rounded, while Color Streets are pointynuances that may not sound like much, but in terms of design, they do matter and contribute to a brands overall aesthetic.

Both lines use 100% real nail polish for their strips and each one has three layers: a base, overlay, and topcoat. Both can be removed using regular nail polish remover. Walmart shows a $7 price for Incocos nails, while a similar Color Street design is $12.

How To Remove Color Street Nails

Where similarly long-lasting nail techniques can be a real pain to remove, Color Street nails are a cinch to take off. Since theyre made with real nail polish, they only require classic acetone or nail polish remover to swipe off. We always recommend this instead of peeling or picking off the polish to prevent any damage to your nails, Parks says.

Apply The Stickers To Your Nails

Then, it is time to apply the stickers to your nails. One by one, peel off the backing and precisely stick it to your nails. Try to get it perfectly in place the first time, as the more you take it on and off reduces how long-lasting it is.

Make sure the rounded edge is right below or right up to the edge of the cuticle. Do not go over the cuticle, as this will make it peel off faster. Then, smooth the sticker on your nail to make sure there are not any air bubbles and that it is smooth against the nail.

Prep Tips To Make Your Color Street Last Longer

Do you love the look of Color Street nails but are having trouble getting them to last? There are things you can do to help that beautiful manicure last so you keep getting compliments way past day 1. Here are the Color Street tips you will need to prepare your nails to have your manicure looking fresh for days.

  • Make sure your Color Street nail strips and hands are the right temperature. If your nail strips are too cold or hot, they wont adhere as well. Too cold and they will be brittle. Too warm and the adhesive will be gummy. Make sure they are room temperature. Also, make sure your hands are not cold. You need the warmth of your hands to warm the adhesive on contact .
  • Wash your hands with dish soap. This may sound strange, but dish soap is the best thing to use to wash your hands before application. Regular hand soaps often contain oils or butters to keep your skin soft. The problem is these oils will keep your Color Street polish strips from adhering as well as they could. Dish soap often has a degreaser in it. This will help break down any oils on your nails and hands. My personal favorite is Dawn. The degreaser works well without killing your skin.

  • Use the provided alcohol wipes. You will get alcohol wipes that come with your Color Street nail strips, use them right before application. But do make sure you let the alcohol completely dry before you proceed.
