Here Are My Best Tips For The Impress Nails Application:
- When picking a nail for each finger, pick a size thats the exact width of your nail or slightly smaller. They will stay on longer if not touching your skin on the side of the nail.
- Make sure to use the alcohol wipe that comes with the packet to clean nails before applying Impress Nails.
- To get the most natural look, take the tab off, and press it right up to and under your cuticle.
- For best adhesion, spend a few minutes just pressing the nails to your nails, going along each finger and pressing. I will sometimes apply mine while watching TV, and just keep pressing for awhile.
- Apply them before bed! Then they will set up better while sleeping since you wont be using your hands. I noticed that Im more likely to have them stay on longer when I do that.
- File the ends a bit if there are rough spots after application. Theres a small nail file that comes in the kit, but its good to have a bigger size on hand.
- Be careful with your nails. I still take a hot bath every night and do lots of dishes, but Im careful not to use my nails to open things.
- If a nail pops off, keep some nail glue on hand, and apply a couple of drops to put it back on.
- Removal is actually pretty easy. Peel them off starting at the sides, and the glue comes off pretty easily. I never use acetone or anything.

Apply Both The Glue And The Adhesive Strip
This is the exact gel nail kit that I used . Kiss has a lot of very attractive styles . The directions tell you to choose between using the glue provided and the adhesive strips. I decided to use both and it made all the difference. I placed the adhesive on the inside of the nail, then placed glue on my nail. I pressed them together and waited about five seconds. The whole installation took about 15 minutes. FYI, I tried putting just the adhesive strip on one nail and it popped off after just a few hours. So use both the glue and the adhesive strip.
Where Can You Buy Glue
There are many press-on nail manufacturers on the market. Some of the most common brands you will find at your local Target, Walmart, and CVS are Kiss Nails and imPRESS. Static Nails are a slightly more expensive option and are sold online.
My personal favorites are by Kiss Nails and a newer player Ardell Professional Nail Addict nails I find that they last much longer and do not show wear and tear nearly as much as imPRESS nails do. ImPRESS nails, however, might be an easier option to start with if youre just learning and looking for something mess-free. These come with adhesive strips already on the nails, so no additional glue application is required.
Press-on nails come in a wide variety of colors, shapes, and designs making it easy to mix it up a bit. You can even get clear press-on nails and apply your favorite color and design yourself.

Keep a bottle of hand sanitizer near the sink and on your person to keep your hands clean. Even if you do wash your hands a few times during the day, which I do, the hand sanitizer will reduce your contact with water.

I used to spend upwards of $50 per appointment to have my nails done with damaging acrylics. More for a gel nail treatment. An expensive but necessary step if I wanted to have pretty, strong, painted nails that lasted for at least a few weeks. A couple of years ago, I started to use gel press on nail kits as an alternative. They only cost about $10 per box, theyre easy to install , and they look almost exactly like a gel treatment at the nail salon. Heres a recent installation of gel press on nails that I did:
I got compliments on my nails from everyone who saw them. They couldnt believe that they werent done at the salon . The only problem with gel press on nails is that they dont last very long. Youre lucky to get the nails to stay on for a weekend. Here are a few tips I used to extend the wear to two weeks.
Is Nail Dip Better Than Gel
Dip nails dont require UV/LED light and are typically a much quicker process to apply from start to finish. Gel nails tend to look a bit more natural on the nails than a dip powered enhancement, so I prefer gel manicures.

Size Your Nails For The Perfect Fit
If you find that you cant find the perfect size for your nail, go for one slightly larger and file it down to your nail size .
Pro-Tip: Size one hand and reference the number under the nail to find duplicates in the pack for your other hand!
6. Buff/file the inside of the press on nail .
I consider this somewhat of an advanced tip.; However, it helps depending on the style of the nail. Using a buffing block, file, or filing machine, filing the inside of the nail helps get rid of the shine on the false nail allowing it to adhere to your natural nail better.
Since Im applying jelly style nails, Im skipping this step because they are translucent, and I dont want that showing through the nail.
How Long Do They Last
I asked on Instagram, and the majority of people said they usually last up to 10 days for them. There were a few people who said they only lasted a few days. But most people said that if you rough up your nails a little and dont get them wet for a few hours after putting them on, that they will last for 10-14 days.
A few of mine fell off during the 10 days I wore them, but I found it was really simple to either put on a replacement nail or glue the nail back on with nail glue.

How To Make Press
You can make your press-on nails last longer by following these 4 simple tips:
- Tip 1: Whether using clear polish under the glue or not, always make sure to use rubbing alcohol to clean off any remaining residue and natural oils before applying.;
- Tip 2: Use a strong adhesive nail glue by applying it both to the back of the press-on nail and your natural nail.;
- Tip 3: Put pressure on every nail for 30 seconds as you are applying. This lets the adhesive spread across the full surface thus ensuring a stronger bond. This will, in turn, make press-on nails stick better.
- Tip 4: Do not wash your hands or come in contact with water for at least 2 hours after application to help your press-on nails stay on longer. I find that doing this overnight is the easiest .;
- Tip 5: Use a top hardener coat to make your nails look polished and help them stick better. This also has the added benefit of hardening the actual nail surface which makes it more durable.

I love getting my nails done. For a few years, its been one of the splurges that we budget for. I get dip polish on them and it lasts 4-5 weeks.
But, getting them done means finding the time to go to the salon and sit there and have them do my nails. Some weeks, its hard to carve out the time for that.
Recently, it had been five weeks since I had gotten my nails done and I really needed to get them re-done. They were very grown out and the dip polish was starting to come off.
However, we had a lot going on that week and I just couldnt seem to find an hour to leave two little ones at home. It was then that I remembered my sister talking about how much she loves the Impress Nails.
