Nail School Opens In Longview

Shauri Gibson has moved her nail technology school Cureosity Academy of Art to Longview, after opening in Gladewater about a year ago.

Gibson, who said she’s been a nail technician for 17 1/2 years, opened her school at 105 E. Loop 281, Suite 3H, behind Chili’s at Loop 281 and Judson Road.

“With me going into cosmetology years ago, I was slightly disgruntled about the service I received in school … I realized we weren’t getting the attention that most vocational programs get,” Gibson said, and she said students sometimes were paying thousands of dollars only to need “a whole new education again” after joining the workforce. “I wanted to change the outlook on cosmetology school, especially nails.”

Her school is the lone nails-only training in Longview, although there are other cosmetology schools that offer training in several aspects of cosmetology or another single service.

Cureosity offers an 18-week, 600-hour program to become a licensed nail tech with the state of Texas, including training students will need for operating a business. Her school is licensed through the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.

“A lot of people were traveling to Tyler,” to what she said is the closest nail-only program in the area.

” gave me the opportunity to give back to the community of Longview,” Gibson said.
