Where To Buy Nail Wraps

Nail Wrap Battle: Incoco | Jamberry | Sally Hansen | Essie | Kiss

Now that you know what nail wraps are and how easy they are to apply, finding some to try is the next step! There are few brands that you can buy in stores such as Dashing Diva and Incoco. However, most nail wrap companies only sell online/Amazon. You can see a list of my favorite nail wrap brands here.

Are you going to try them out?

Drawbacks Of Bornbeauty Nail Polish Strips

1- Needs More Variety

Since BornBeauty is a relatively new player in the market they lack variety in designs.

The good news is that new designs are constantly being released.

2- Has a Nail Polish Scent

Some folks have complained about the high scent that the strips have.

Dont worry the scent is standard and goes away after you wash your hands out.

This smell comes from the fact that the BornBeauty strips are made from real nail polish.

I didnt even notice because they smell just like normal nail polish.

If anyone from BornBeauty is reading this maybe you guys should consider scenting your nails with nice fragrances or at least making them with no scent if possible.

Another con is if you are looking to avoid nail polish then BornBeauty is not for you, keep reading the next Nail sticker in this article caters for you.

How They Are Applied

Silk wrap nails can only be applied on completely clean, dirt-free nails. Once the nails are spotless, they are then buffed to smoothness. This helps ensure that the silk will properly attach to the natural nail. The silk wrap is cut precisely to fit your nail. A surface resin is applied to secure the wrap, and the nails are then buffed once again to smooth out any potential lumps and bumps. Once the nails are perfectly even, dust is brushed away and cuticles are moisturized. It is a good idea to wash your hands once the nails have been applied to remove any excess debris. A glassy sealant may be applied on top to secure the silk and provide a high-gloss finish.

How Do You Apply Nail Wraps

Nail wraps, unlike many press-on nails, don’t require glue or the necessary time to find the right-size fit. Instead, nail wraps are self-adhesive and excess product can easily be buffed away with a nail file or, even, your nails. This makes them perfect for the too-busy parent, woman on-the-go, lazy Janes, and everyone else who would rather save time than wait for nail polish to dry.

To use, first clean your nails with an alcohol wipe so they’re free of natural oils and polish. Then, gently push your cuticles back to prep for the nail wraps. Once that’s done, peel the nail wraps off their plastic sealants and place them on top of your nails, hugging them close to your cuticles. Gently smooth them out over your nails, and buff away excess product with a nail file or your own nails. You can choose to top them off with a topcoat for a super shiny and longer-lasting finish, but it’s not a necessary step.

What Are Nail Wraps Made Of

Playful Polishes: NCLA NAIL WRAPS/SUGAR SKULL NAILS

One of the biggest questions asked is what are nail wraps made of and if theyre *insert vegan, cruelty free, 3-free, etc*. Nail wraps can be made of either vinyl or nail polish. Typically strips that are made of vinyl and an adhesive base are called nail wraps whereas nail polish strips and made of mostly nail polish without adhesive. However, the nail wrap title gets tossed around for all strip-type nail enhancements.

The basic ingredients of nail wraps and strips include: N-Butyl Acetate, Polyacrylic acid, Styrene/lsoprene Copolymer, Hydrogenated Poly, Ethyl Acetate, Nitrocellulose, Neopentyl Glycol/Trimellitic Anhydride, Triethyl Citrate, Cellulose Acetate Butyrate

NailsMailed has a great little article about the basic ingredients of nail wraps what theyre used for and what other products you can find them in. Essentially, all these ingredients are solvents and plastics/polymers that bind together to form the film of nail polish that we apply as a wrap.

I find it very difficult to find ANY nail wraps that are made of dibutyl phthalate, toluene, and formaldehyde which are the 3 big ingredients that have some undesirable traits. Because of this, I wouldnt be concerned about using nail wraps unless youve had an allergic reaction to liquid nail polish or other nail wraps in the past. And its always best not to eat your nail wraps.

For a list of the exact ingredients of nail wraps for each manufacturer, please see their specific packaging or website.

How To Choose The Best Nail Polish Strips

  • Always choose non-toxic nail strips, as harmful ingredients can make your nails brittle and cause yellowing and breakage.
  • Opt for nail strips that are soft and easy to apply. Coarse nail polish stickers are not just complicated to apply, but they also feel heavy on the nails.
  • To ensure that you dont have to worry about looking for nail strip glues and other holding elements, choose self-adhesive strips.
  • A good way to gauge the quality of a nail strip is to test it out on real and false nails. If it holds well on both, it means that youve landed yourself a good deal.
  • Check all the reviews before purchasing any nail strip, look especially for lasting power. A good nail polish strip offers up to 2 weeks of long-lasting wear.

How To Remove Nail Wraps

Most of the time we let them stay on until they come off by themselves, but if for some reason, you need to get them off or want to change up your look, there are a few ways you can do it.

  • Soak your nails in warm water for 10 to 15 minutes. The nail stickers should roll off easily as you run your finger on it.
  • If they still dont come off, you can consider wiping them with a nail polish remover a few times.

What Are Nail Wraps

Nail wraps are nail care products that are designed to cover the fingernails and enhance their appearance. Unlike a fake glue on nail, which is thick, rigid and hard, a nail wrap is thin, soft and flexible. Wraps are bonded to the nails with glue, which dries quickly and keeps the coverings from falling off. Most nail wrap manicures can last for 1 to 2 weeks. A package of nail wraps will contain at least 10 wraps. The wraps inside of the box will vary in size, so that you can match their shapes to that of your natural nails.

Two: Apply The Nail Stickers

Jamberry Nail Wraps â¡ Review & Details!

Remove the clear film that covers the sticker or strip, then peel the strip from the backing paper. “You can remove the tabbed end for more sizing options,” Park shares. “There are 16 total size options per hand.” She recommends starting with your pinkies first and ending with your thumbs for the easiest application.

Next, align the rounded end of the sticker or strip to the cuticle and smooth it down until the nail is covered from the base to the tip.

What Makes Them Different

By nature, silk is delicate, thin and lightweight. This material lends itself well to a more brittle nail, and thus is always a kinder, gentler option than, for example, acrylic. On the other hand, silk is also quite fragile. For that reason, its not the best choice for those who lead very active lifestyles, engage in regular manual labor, or participate in sports.

Since silk is so delicate, it also happens to be thinner than acrylic and thus looks more realistic and natural. In fact, its usually so natural in appearance that it can easily be mistaken for a real fingernail. The thin material also allows the nails to breathe easily, a stark contrast to the snug fit of a binding acrylic .

Pros Of Jamberry Nails

The Greatest advantage that these wraps have over the other wraps is the fact that they can last much longer than most wraps.

This is because they use a heat-induced adhesive, but as discussed early this can come at a risk.

Currently, The Jamberry Company that makes these wraps are no longer in business. Citation.

There are two reasons why they went out of business:

1- They were a Multilevel marketing company meaning they made more money by recruiting sale representatives.

In my opinion, this business model made them focus on recruitment instead of making good products for their customers and made their products more expensive.

2- Increased Competition As you can see in this article a lot of new companies are offering great nail wraps that are easy to use and at a cheaper price, so Jamberry market share was chipped away.

How To Use Nail Wraps

Now that you know what nail wraps are, how do you use and apply them? There isnt much to the process, but it does take some practice to get it perfect.

The first step in how to use nail wraps is always prepping your nail. If you neglect this part or dont do it well enough it can affect how well your nail wraps adhere and last. And its always better to get your nails into the shape you want BEFORE applying your wraps.

Nail wraps offer many size variations because everyones nails are shaped differently. This gives you a lot of variety to find the right fit, but youll have to size up the strips on your nails before you peel them off so you know which ones to use. You can always put a piece of tap over the nail, outline your cuticle with a sharpie and then put it up against the strips to see which one would work.

Then peel the strip off the paper backing and apply to the nail, keeping in mind to not get the strip on the cuticle/skin. Fold the excess strip over the nail and file it off. I find it easier if I clip off most of the excess with a nail clipper before filing. If you want, finish it all off with a good clear top coat to seal it all onto the nail.

Why Are You Not Using These Drugstore Nail Wraps

Just an FYI. You can buy nail wraps made by the same ...

I first tried Sally Hansen Real Nail Polish Strips in the summer of 2012 and it was because I was dating a guy at the time who had a houndstooth fetish. I’m disappointed in myself, really, because your most sacred beliefs shouldn’t be compromised for some guy, and up until that point I’d always been scrupulously faithful to my utter contempt for houndstooth. It’s so…repetitive! With too many corners. But guy had a weird thing for it, so any time I saw something houndstooth that I could probably make fit into my situation, I bit. First, it was the Turkish throw pillowsthey were more of an abstract, woven houndstooth, and in royal blue and a dusty tan, which made them more palatable. Then, it was the 5 for $25 panties, two of which were houndstooth, but I didn’t have to really see those, anyway. Still, the whole thing felt gross and forced, like when you’re eating chicken and you bite down on something hard but swallow it anyway because you’re around other people.

I choose them over polish for my toes, especially for summer, when toes become a thing again. Polish chips and smudges in close-toed shoes, whereas these wraps cling on until you’re forced to remove them because of way-too-obvious nail growth. I guess that was the only drawbackI had freaking houndstooth on my feet for an entire month.

Make Your Own Nail Wraps

Review & Demo: Marble Nail Wraps by NCLA

I recently discovered this nail trick, and I seriously think its going to revolutionize my nail art from now on. If youre not the best at painting your nails with a steady hand, why not just make your own nail wraps and forget about trying to master the brush!?

All you need are some polishes and a plastic bag. You can also use waxed paper or anything with a glossy surface.

On your plastic, paint a general shape of a nail. Try to keep the polish thick so its easier to peel off later.

Let that dry and add your own nail art. I decided on some easy polka dots and flowers. Youll need to let your finished creations dry for about an hour or so.

Paint your nails a solid colour. Once dry, grab some tweezers and gently peel the nail sticker off of the plastic. It should come off fairly easily. Position on your nail.

Using your finger or a nail tool, press the design onto your nail and smooth it out just like you would with a store-bought nail wrap!

If you need to, you can cut off the excess wrap with a wooden nail tool or just use some nail polish remover on a q-tip or brush.

Finish by applying a clear top coat, and youre done!

You can also create cute little singular decals like this flower and place them wherever you like!

Now you have no excuses for not being able to paint your nails with cute designs!

When you’re over your nail stickers or strips, taking them off isn’t much different than getting rid of regular polish. Use nail polish remover or acetone and a cotton ball to gently loosen up the adhesive that’s binding the sticker to your nail beds. But whatever you do, don’t pull nail stickers, strips, and wraps off. Park says that peeling and picking at them may damage nails.
