Theres definitely a bit of a learning curve for applying press on nails, but after the first set, I can now put on a set in about 15 minutes.

I push down my cuticles and then choose press on nails for each nail and lay them out in front of me.
I trim with nail clippers any that feel too long to me and then I file them so theyre smooth along the top edge. .
Then I put a dot of glue on the back of the press on nail and another dot of glue on my real nail and press the nail on, putting pressure on the cuticle edge, for about 15 seconds until its secure.

Its going to differ depending on your own nails and how you use them, but for me, the damage has been minimal.
Ive done gel nails twice in my life and they absolutely DESTROYED my real nails. I dont plan to ever do them again a few weeks of great looking nails doesnt make up for 3-4 months of trying to get my regular nails back in decent shape.
I also can only paint my nails maybe twice before they start to get pretty damaged.

If you used self-stick nails, you can simply soak your fingertips in warm, soapy water for about five to 10 minutes then gently start lifting the artificial nails. For glue, however, you will likely need acetone to break it down, according to Marton. She recommends adding a drop of oil or rich cream onto your hands to regain moisture immediately after using acetone.
Again, these nails were not designed to last long, so they should come off fairly easy just be gentle in your process, Marton said.

You can make your press-on nails last longer by following these 4 simple tips:
- Tip 1: Whether using clear polish under the glue or not, always make sure to use rubbing alcohol to clean off any remaining residue and natural oils before applying.;
- Tip 2: Use a strong adhesive nail glue by applying it both to the back of the press-on nail and your natural nail.;
- Tip 3: Put pressure on every nail for 30 seconds as you are applying. This lets the adhesive spread across the full surface thus ensuring a stronger bond. This will, in turn, make press-on nails stick better.
- Tip 4: Do not wash your hands or come in contact with water for at least 2 hours after application to help your press-on nails stay on longer. I find that doing this overnight is the easiest .;
- Tip 5: Use a top hardener coat to make your nails look polished and help them stick better. This also has the added benefit of hardening the actual nail surface which makes it more durable.

There are many press-on nail manufacturers on the market. Some of the most common brands you will find at your local Target, Walmart, and CVS are Kiss Nails and imPRESS. Static Nails are a slightly more expensive option and are sold online.
My personal favorites are by Kiss Nails and a newer player Ardell Professional Nail Addict nails I find that they last much longer and do not show wear and tear nearly as much as imPRESS nails do. ImPRESS nails, however, might be an easier option to start with if youre just learning and looking for something mess-free. How Do Press
Press-on nails typically come in a kit that includes the nails, a cuticle-pusher, a file, and nail glue. The nails themselves are usually divided into a five-compartment container with multiple sizes for each nail so that you have a good chance of finding a press-on that perfectly matches your nail shape. And, if theyre a bit off, thats where the file comes into play.;

A common method to remove press-ons is to soak the nail in pure acetone for up to 10 mins. Extended exposure to acetone can be very drying to nails and cuticles.
