Completely Honest Experience With Impress Nails

ImPRESS Nails | How-To Tutorial | Tips to Keep Them On for Up to 3 Weeks

I love getting my nails done. For a few years, its been one of the splurges that we budget for. I get dip polish on them and it lasts 4-5 weeks.

But, getting them done means finding the time to go to the salon and sit there and have them do my nails. Some weeks, its hard to carve out the time for that.

Recently, it had been five weeks since I had gotten my nails done and I really needed to get them re-done. They were very grown out and the dip polish was starting to come off.

However, we had a lot going on that week and I just couldnt seem to find an hour to leave two little ones at home. It was then that I remembered my sister talking about how much she loves the Impress Nails.

She used to use dip polish on her nails and had told me shed converted over to the Impress Nails and had become a real fan.

So, Jesse had to head out for an errand and I asked him if hed swing by Target to pick up a box of the Impress Nails for me to try out.

Buy From Recent Nail Collections

imPRESS comes out with new collections on a pretty regular basismaybe even monthly, Im not 100% sure. I just know its April now and I see some of the same styles on their site from March, with a few new ones.

And when I first started buying press-on nails from them back in November they had all the cute holiday styles available. Anyways, my point is that since theyre constantly coming out with new designs, sometimes popular designs go out of stock fast.

Ive also tried ordering some designs on eBay when theyre no longer available on the imPRESS website, Walmart, Target, Ulta, etc. Ive found some really cute ones on eBay like these hot pink with leopard accent nails .

However, I will say that Ive noticed their older designs chip easier, and the newer designs from more recent collections last a lot longer. That doesnt mean you shouldnt buy the older designs if theres a style you really love, but just manage your expectations and know that older ones may only last you a week, rather than two weeks.

Which again is not necessarily a bad thingsometimes after a week Im ready to pop my nails off and try a new style.

How To Apply Impress Press On Nails So They Last

Hi everyone!

For todays post I really wanted to talk about press on nails as theyre so convenient but so many people dont use them or dont know about them.

Ive been using them for years and theyre also great for when you want to give your nails a break from nail polish/shellac/gel.

I personally hate having plain, naked nails haha. I love having painted nails but my nails are so fragile that they chip so easily and get weak very easily. When I need a break from polish, I love putting press ons.

There so easy to put on and have no drying time haha!

How To Make Them Last

Kiss Impress Nails: get the ones that already come with the sticker attached to them. Having the sticker already manufactured on the nail is the best for the nails sticking on your natural nail.

Rub your nails with the prep pad or rubbing alcohol on a cotton pad

Press the nail on your natural nail and hold it and press it on your nail for it to stick.

Voila! It should last you a few days

Ive also tried this type of Kiss Nails but unfortunately they pop off very easily :

These dont come with the stickers already stuck onto them. They come with stickers in the box and glue.

These nails are stunning and I wished they came with the stickers manufactured on because it makes such a big difference.

These would always pop off or fly off haha.

But, even impress has super pretty styles these are some of the new ones I purchased recently

On their website they also have pedicure options.

Properly Prepping Your Nails Before Applying Press

You’ve probably heard that dehydrated nails lead to damaged nails, but too much moisture are fake nails’ worst enemy. After pushing your cuticles back, the next step is removing any excess moisture from your nail beds. Edwards says taking off any oil on your natural nails will make press-ons adhere better. While some fake nail kits like KISS’ Impress Manicure come with an alcohol prep pad, if you don’t have any handy, a cotton round soaked in alcohol also does the trick.

What Are The Benefits Of Press

Impress press on nails review
  • First of all, press-on nails are extremely affordable! Prices average at about $8 per set, though you can certainly dish out closer to $20 for a set of Static Nails.
  • It takes me less than 10 minutes to prep my nails and apply the falsies which makes getting ready for an even a snap Having said that, you might take longer the first couple of times, but not by much.
  • They leave my nails healthier than before
  • They are super-duper easy to remove without causing any nail damage.
  • My favorite thing about press-on nails though is the wide variety of designs and colors to choose from.

To Applying Kiss Impress Nails

Wash and dry your hands afterwards.Ensure your nails are nicely trimmed/ cut down including those stubborn cuticles.

Use the included alcohol pad to clean your nails and your nail bed.

Open the package and begin to match the nail to yours. The key is to pick the ones that covers your entire nail but doesnt cover your cuticle, thats the only way it will look natural. There are numbers on every single nail, so once you pick one for one hand, you have done the work for both hands.

Peel off the adhesive on the back of the nail and apply a little bit of pressure to ensure it sticks. The correct way to apply it, is to make sure the side with the number is visible (pretty much the side without the number is what you apply on your nail bed.

Do not dip your hands in water for up to 1 hour after applying the nails.

Voila, you are done. You can choose to file your nails down with the nail filer included.

This whole process takes me about 10 minutes.

My favorite ones are the oval shaped nails.

My Experience With Impress Nails Has Been Great

Ive been wearing Impress Nails for about the last couple of years on and off and they work perfectly for what I need. I consider it my tried and true method for achieving a perfect manicure every time. And these are not your moms press-on nails from the 80s, promise! LOL!

If theres any drawback, the ridges can get stuck from time to time. If you run your fingers through your hair a lot, your strands can occasionally get stuck near the ridges by your nail beds, which is hard to get used to at first.

I love the modern short, square shape, and they look more natural to me compared to other longer glue-on nails. Theres a large selection of widths, so if you have wide or skinny nail beds, there are lots of options to fit any nail size.

Its also worth noting if you want to skip the accent-colored nail designs, there are enough nails to keep them all the same color.

Note: This is not a sponsored post. I am just sharing my honest product review with you as Im loving this cheap and quick way for me to get by nails lookin like I just got a manicure!

Heres Why I Especially Love Kiss Impress Nails

  • They are easy to apply in just one step and theres no nail glue needed.
  • No drying time is needed like with traditional nail polish. I can just stick these on and move on to other things, which is such a time saver!
  • After I am done wearing them, I can remove them without damaging my nails and theres no drill damaging my real nails like in the salon applications. My actual nails feel perfectly healthy!
  • Impress Nails save me money. These are much less than a salon gel manicure which can cost up to $50-$60 dollars, and I dont need to leave the house!

How Do You Apply Them

Putting on Fake Nails (Impress)

The Impress Nails are very easy to apply. Just open up the box, make sure your nails are clean and dry and a little roughed up , and then peel off the backing of the nail and press it on. Kaitlynn and I applied them together and we found it worked best to hold them nail down and press around all over it for around 30 seconds.

The biggest tip people gave me over and over was to not get them wet for a few hours. They said this gives the glue time to dry. They also strongly recommended putting them on a little while before bed so that the glue had time to fully dry all night. People who said theirs stay on for 10-14 days all told me that they did this.

For the Static Nails, after about 10-14 days I apply a little pressure at the corner of the nail near the cuticle and then I am able to just pop them off. I have saved old sets for re-use and they look totally fine. Once I actually attempt to re-use I will update this post!

The Trick To Keep Press

KISS

Press-on nails are totally underrated. Not only are they generally more affordable than acrylics, but they also don’t damage your nails nearly as much, either. The downside? They usually fall off after a few days. But it’s easily sorted if you know the trick to make press-ons last longer. “Depending on your nail beds and lifestyle, you can sometimes stretch press-ons past 10 days,” celebrity nail artist and KISS brand ambassador Gina Edwards revealed to Harper’s Bazaar.

Apparently, it all comes down to how you apply the glue. “If you are worried about any nails coming off, be sure to apply the glue at the tip of your own nail and near the base of the artificial press-on,” Edwards told InStyle. Also smart: “Leave a little on the sides bare, so the glue can set and spread without attaching to your skin,” nail artist and Fashion Week backstage veteran Miss Pop explained to Allure.

Always Start With Clean Nails

As with any surface that you put an adhesive on, your nails need to be polish-, oil-, and dirt-free to ensure your press on set lasts. After removing any traces of nail polish with polish remover or acetone, be sure to wash your hands with soap and warm water thoroughly. Also, use an alcohol pad to remove any excess oil present on your nail beds.

Pro Tip: Gently buff the surface of your nail for an extra-smooth surface your press-on can actually stick to.

How To Apply Impress Nails & How To Keep Them On Longer

APPLYING THE NAILS

  • First, choose your nails. ImPRESS has tons of styles and shapes to choose from. I personally love the almond shape nails. They have a couture collection set that has been a favorite recently.
  • Start with clean hands and nails. If you wash your hands, make sure none of your nails are wet- 30-60 minutes before applying. Your natural nails should not be longer than the adhesive on the back of the press on nails, so adjust as needed.
  • Lay out all of the press on nails and size them to your nails.
  • I start with a clear base coat or nail strengthener. Wait for that to dry and then use the included file to rough up the tops of your nails. Then use the alcohol wipe included.
  • Next, apply the press on nails, starting with the outside pinky nails first and working your way in. Do you thumbs LAST! You will want your natural thumb nail available to peel the backing off of the press on nails ad apply to your nails.
  • PRESS those nails on good! Give them a good press for about 30-60 seconds.

AFTER APPLYING

REMOVAL

  • Once youve gone as long as you can with the nails on, some of them are easy to peel off. Honestly, this is how I remove them, but the directions say to use a little drop of nail polish remover and put it between the press on and your nail and it will come off.
  • Use a nail polish remover to remove any extra adhesive.

Do Press On Nails Damage Your Nails

Obviously there will be a little bit of damage as you are putting glue on your nail beds. But it is nowhere NEAR the damage I used to experience when doing gel manicures. My nails are not thin and weak after press on nails and once I file off any excess glue, they are relatively back to normal! I am usually able to go from one set to another without any issues.

If I do give my nails some time to breathe I just pop on some OPI Nail Envy in between sets.

Now that we got that out of the way, letâs move on to this tutorial on how to apply press on nails shall we?

Kiss Fantasy Gel Nail Cons

Impress press on nails tutorial/how to quickly wear press on nails and Tips

The cons for the KISS Fantasy Gel Nails is that the first day I put the nails on a nail fell off a few hours later. The adhesive comes in a package as you can choose to use the nail glue or adhesive tape. Again this review is on just using the adhesive tape* not the nail glue. I changed the adhesive tape on the thumb nail. The next day the other thumb nail came loose and I had to replace the adhesive again. On day 3 I felt another nail came loose and so I just removed the nail and added a new adhesive. I decided to try these nails over a long weekend in which I had no plans. I did not want to be out and about and have a nail go missing! Embarrissing! Overall the nails are very thin which look natural but sort of look like acrylic. The nail lays right into your natural nail without popping off. These were also a bit longer and very easy to remove. The adhesive on these are not as strong as the imPRESS nails but I was able to do dishes and clean, etc. without the nails falling off.

Impress Nails Vs Kiss Fantasy Nails Review

Love getting your nails done but hate spending time and money at the salon? Worst part of all gel nails and acrylic nails ruin your nails. Sometimes you just want to wear fake nails for an event, party or get together. I personally do not like using nail glue and prefer the adhesive nail tape. Easy removal!

I am going to give you my review on two press on nails I use: The imPress Nails and KISS gel fantasy nails.

Carry A Few Extra Nails In Your Purse In Case One Pops Off

When Im not quarantining, I got this cute little pill case to carry a few extra nails in. That way if one happens to get snagged on something and pops off, I can just pop another one back on.

Since theres already an adhesive on the nails and theres no glue required for application, its really easy and not messy.
