If you are new to stamping, the best plates to start out with are more abstract patterns and the Paisley Flow Collection from Maniology is perfect. Patterned images like this are much more forgiving when you are learning to stamp since if part of the images doesnt come out quite right, its not as obvious as it would be if you were stamping an image of a cat and then half of its body is suddenly gone.
The set comes with 10 square stamping plates, all with a different intricate design. The large, single image plates are great for long nails, as well as short. Maniology is one of my favorite brands for highly detailed, thin-lined designs like this when using stamping polish. Check out this YouTube swatch video to see how well these plates stamp.

These plates are acrylic instead of steel which can feel weird at first, but after playing around on your first stamping session, youll get the hang of it. I bought myself some Cici & Sisi plates and the acrylic stamps just as well as steel but wont bend, warm, or get scratched which is nice.
Why Cant I Pick Up Designs Properly With My Nail Stamper
Firstly, make sure that you are stamping on a hard surface. Do not stamp on a manicure pad.
Also, when scraping the nail polish off make sure you are holding the stamping plate down firmly with one hand.
Finally, make sure to apply a good amount of nail polish to the design. If you dont then it will dry out quickly and it wont pick up the designs from the plate.

Soak cotton balls in nail polish remover to remove glitter from your nails. Press the cotton ball to the nail that you want the glitter removed from, then hold for a few minutes before removing the cotton ball. The glitter should wipe off easily after this.

How To Fix Nail Stamping Mistakes
If youre new to the art of nail stamping, you will naturally make some mistakes. But it can all be fixed up quite easily. Some of these mistakes include incomplete stamping, smeared nail polish, or crooked patterns that were not placed properly on the nail when stamping.
Relax and dont stress, it’s part of the fun of learning. It wont always be necessary for you to re-polish your nails from scratch. Using a topcoat before nail stamping means the hard glossy surface makes it easy to erase the badly stamped design.
You can use sticky lint paper to remove the stamped polished design by gently rolling it over the nail. If the mistake is stubborn then try lightly rubbing the nail with a lint-free pad soaked in a little acetone. Once the design has been removed, re-apply a top coat to the nail.

Maniology Game Over: Insert Coin Nail Stamping
Now onto the fun part. With plate M050, Game Over: Insert Coin by Maniology, I decided to use a combination of stamping and reverse stamping for this design .
For all of the black outlines, I used Konad Black stamping polish. See below for the list of polishes I used in the reverse stamping
- Game Controller ILNP fired up and
- maniology phantom purple
- white Alpine Snow OPI
As usual, I added the stamped images on my mat and began to fill them in. As I was only filling in 3 images I decided to take the risk and not create any spares. Plus the Mario image was quite a bit bigger than my nail so I would have some to spare.
During the colouring in, I did damage one of the decals. With some care, I managed to pick up the damaged part on my stamper and then re-add it back to the image on my mat. Im so glad this worked as I was about halfway through the design.
The design was finished off with Maniology Smudge-free top coat and then OPI Start to Finish.

How Long Does Stamping Polish Take To Dry
Usually, it takes one to two hours before the nail polish is completely dry. If youre using a nail polish dryer then wait around 20 minutes. Many nail polish dryers allow you to use your hands 5 to 15 minutes after the nail polish is applied, but its better to be safe than sorry.
