Nine Inch Nails Cancel All 2021 Concerts
Following moves by Stevie Nicks, Garth Brooks and others, Nine Inch Nails announced on Thursday that they have cancelled all concert appearances for 2021. The group was scheduled to begin a series of dates in September and November in Cleveland on September 21.
It is with great regret that we are cancelling all NIN appearances for the remainder of the year, the group said in a statement posted on its social media accounts. When originally planned, these shows were intended to be a cathartic and celebratory return to live music. However, with each passing day its becoming more appearance were not at that place yet.

The groups next scheduled date is at Hellfest in June of next year. No details on refunds or rescheduling were immediately available on the Nine Inch Nails official website, although information for the Cleveland dates were posted on social media it seems likely that the others will be posted in short order.
Brooks had previously indicated that he was rethinking upcoming dates, in light of spiking COVID rates.

Nine Inch Nails announced their only headlining concerts of 2021. NIN will perform at Jacobs Pavilion at Nautica in the bands native Cleveland on September 21 and 23 with special guests the Pixies.
NINs Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross along with Jon Batiste are fresh off an Oscar win for their work on the animated film Soul. Nine Inch Nails also recently teamed up with HEALTH for a new song Isnt Everyone and NIN has said that they are working on a new album. The newly announced shows will see Rock And Roll Hall of Famers NIN returning to Cleveland for the first time since being inducted in 2020.

Ghosts Iiv And The Slip
In February 2008, Reznor posted a news update on the Nine Inch Nails website entitled “2 weeks”. On March 2, Ghosts IIV , a 36-track instrumental album, became available via the band’s official website. Ghosts IIV was made available in a number of different formats and forms, ranging from a free download of the first volume, to a $300 Ultra-Deluxe limited edition package. All 2,500 copies of the $300 package sold out in three days. The album is licensed under a Creative CommonsAttribution Non-Commercial Share Alike licence. The album was created improvisationally over a 10-week period and contributors included Atticus Ross, Alan Moulder, Alessandro Cortini, Adrian Belew, and Brian Viglione.
Similar to the announcement that ultimately led to the release of Ghosts IIV, a post on the band’s website in April 2008 read “2 weeks!” On May 5, Nine Inch Nails released The Slip via its website without any advertisement or promotion. The album was made available for download free of charge with a message from Reznor, “this one’s on me,” protected under the same Creative Commons licence as Ghosts, and has seen individual downloads surpassing 1.4 million.The Slip has since been released on CD as a limited edition set of 250,000.

The DVD version has a number of bonus features and hidden easter eggs. In disc 1, there are alternate stationary camera angles for “La Mer”, “The Great Below” and “The Mark Has Been Made”. Disc 2 includes a photo gallery and an audio commentary by Bill Viola discussing his video effects for “La Mer”, “The Great Below” and “The Mark Has Been Made”. If “7” is pressed at 11:19 on Disc 2, the “Beneath The Surface” menu appears, which allows access to the aforementioned easter eggs as well as promo spots for The Fragile and its remix album Things Falling Apart .

Nine Inch Nails Scraps Fall 2020 Tour Plans

NINE INCH NAILS have scrapped plans to tour North America this fall due to the coronavirus pandemic which is sweeping the globe.
Earlier today, Trent Reznor revealed that NINE INCH NAILS was scheduled to kick off the fall 2020 leg of its “Cold And Black And Infinite” trek on September 15 in San Diego, with additional dates in Los Angeles, Vancouver, Seattle, Kansas City, Philadelphia and Toronto.
Now that the tour has been called off, Reznor says that “the current plan is to finish up some scoring projects, work on my limited patience skills, deep dive into new NIN material, and hopefully be playing music live for you in 2021.”
This past March, NINE INCH NAILS surprise-released two new albums: “Ghosts V: Together” and “Ghosts VI: Locusts”. Consisting of 23 new instrumental tracks, they were described on NIN‘s web site as “two different records for two different mindsets.”
Prior to “Ghosts V: Together” and “Ghosts VI: Locusts”, Reznor and collaborator Atticus Ross last shared new NINE INCH NAILS music in a series of records released over three years: “Not The Actual Events” in 2016, “Add Violence” in 2017 and “Bad Witch” in 2018, with the latter followed by a tour.
The pair have spent much of the past few years composing scores for TV and film projects like “Bird Box”, “Waves” and “Watchmen”.

With much of the country still sheltering in place, Reznor explained that though he’s no longer hitting the road, he won’t be sitting idly by either. “The current plan is to finish up some scoring projects, work on my limited patience skills, deep dive into new NIN material, and hopefully be playing music for you live in 2020,” he wrote. “In the meantime… listen to Jehnny’s record … continue to listen to Bowie, and don’t be too hard on yourself.”
This year had been shaping up to be a big one not just for Reznor, who welcomed his fifth child in January and turned 55 on May 17, but also for the celebrated band. Nine Inch Nails unexpectedly dropped Ghosts V-VI in March for free, and had been set to be inducted into the Rock Hall’s class of 2020 on May 2 along with Depeche Mode, T. Rex, The Notorious B.I.G., Whitney Houston, and the Doobie Brothers. Due to the global health crisis, the ceremony has been rescheduled for Nov. 7.

NIN had a pair of Cleveland shows scheduled alongside the Pixies, and had also been tabbed as one of the headliners at several festivals put on by Danny Wimmer Presents. Slipknot and Morrissey were added to the Riot Fest lineup in Chicago after the bands departure, with Disturbed replacing them on the bill at Louder Than Life.
Naturally, the reaction to the decision to halt touring was mixed. Nine Inch Nails had planned to return to the road after an extended period for Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross spent on scoring projects. The two NIN musicians won the Original Score Oscar at this year’s Academy Awards for their work with Jon Batiste for the 2020 film Soul.
