Why I Love Press

If you cant grow your nails or if, like me, you want to elongate short stubby fingers with uneven nails, the imPRESS press-on manis are the most affordable and easiest way to experiment with fake nails. They come in a wide variety of lengths, patterns, and shapes, so you can pick whatever looks the most natural on you.

I honestly didnt think the imPRESS press-on manicures would work for me because my fingers are crooked and fake nails have never, ever worked for me before, but the almond-shaped pre-glued nails I tried were a perfect fit. I really loved Next Wave* , though Symphony* wasnt a big hit due to the square shape that doesnt flatter my hands.

My biggest worry was that I wouldnt be able to figure out how to apply them, but I promise you, it could not be easier. The glue tabs are completely mess-free and foolproof, and I say that as someone who is more accident-prone than most. The patented SuperHold adhesive worked like a charm, but it was still easy to remove without damaging my natural nails when the time came. Once you figure out how to apply press-on nails for the first time, youll never want to go back to your natural nails.

Choose the shape you want and carefully trim or cut it to your size of liking. It is always a good idea to check its durability, sturdiness, and its locking technology before purchasing any false nails.

The claws are out.

Here’s an overview of what happens when I try to grow my nails long: They start looking dirty almost immediately, they slowly move past my nail bed at a snail pace, and as soon as my nails get to a length where chicness is on the horizon, they break. Of course, I could head to a salon for some expertly done nail extensions, but who has the time?

Besides, as much as I love having long nails now and then, I can’t deny that they make typing or buttoning up jeans slightly more complex. What I want is an easy, inexpensive, temporary set of claws that won’t rip off the top surface of my nails when they come off.

Enter press-ons, once hailed by girls in the early ’00s but quickly forgotten, along with low-rise jeans and butterfly clips. Seeing as we’re having an early naughts revival, press-ons are once again back in center stage, this time with a new level of cool and chic that they didn’t have a few years ago. Below, find nine of the best press-on nails that you can plop on and take selfies with all summer long.

Absolutely love using the nails for editorial shoots. They are easy and quick to apply and remove. The only tough part is telling models they can’t keep them. My favorite is their classic oval shape. It elongates the hands and always looks elegant.

How To Make Press

You can make your press-on nails last longer by following these 4 simple tips:

  • Tip 1: Whether using clear polish under the glue or not, always make sure to use rubbing alcohol to clean off any remaining residue and natural oils before applying.
  • Tip 2: Use a strong adhesive nail glue by applying it both to the back of the press-on nail and your natural nail.
  • Tip 3: Put pressure on every nail for 30 seconds as you are applying. This lets the adhesive spread across the full surface thus ensuring a stronger bond. This will, in turn, make press-on nails stick better.
  • Tip 4: Do not wash your hands or come in contact with water for at least 2 hours after application to help your press-on nails stay on longer. I find that doing this overnight is the easiest .
  • Tip 5: Use a top hardener coat to make your nails look polished and help them stick better. This also has the added benefit of hardening the actual nail surface which makes it more durable.

How To Wear Fake Nails Without Damaging Real Nails

Before you apply any false nails on your real nails, make sure you have washed your hands properly and clipped your nails and cuticles. Moisturize your hands well in advance to remove dirt and grease. Wipe off any nail polish you may have on. Lay out all the nails in front of you and make sure they fit your real nails properly. Apply glue on your nails , press the false nail down for 10 seconds and youre done. If you do not follow these instructions properly, it could lead to damaged nails, skin fungus, skin infections, and sometimes, as a worst case scenario can lead to skin cancer. Make sure the tools you are using or your nail technician is using are of high-grade quality and properly sanitized before every use. Unsanitary tools can cause a lot of minor and major skin problems in the long wrong. If the false nails feel highly uncomfortable or itchy, remove them immediately.
